It goes easiest on the skin while being keen about not missing even a single hair. There is no beard that is impossible for this machine to trim and shave not even the hardest and the trickiest beards.
If a manual clean of the Series 5 seems a bit fiddly that’s because it is. It takes a few good minutes to get all the hairs out and I was still not convinced that there weren’t any left. The Series cc comes with Braun’s Clean & Charge station, but you can also clean it manually if choose so. Cleaning our gear is an integral part of any shaving routine and ideally it should be fast and easy to perform. I will say it right off the bat, as far as shaving performance goes, they are very similar.
So it’s overall a quiet razor, although not by any means as quiet as a rotary. It is one of the quietest Braun models I’ve used so far, on par Philips Norelco Shaver with the Series 9 in this regard. I find it too large and unpractical and I would very much rather have a pop-up trimmer always at hand.
If that’s how you use a trimmer in the majority of the time, you probably won’t like the trimmer attachment shipped with the Series s. They’re always there and extremely handy when you need to cut a stubborn hair or shape your sideburns. I’d say that the experience is very similar to the Braun Series 3 ProSkin, which isn’t particularly flattering. As mentioned previously, I personally find the new Series 5 a bit underpowered.

Inside the Series 5; the Lithium-ion battery takes an hour to charge and provides 45 minutes of shaving time. I was able to get a full shaves out of it before having to recharge the battery. Only disadvantage being that you cannot use this device when plugged in. If you don’t mind cleaning your shaver manually and you are comfortable using shaving creams, then 5040s is really a good find.
