So it’s overall a quiet razor, although not by any means as quiet as a rotary. It is one of the quietest Braun models I’ve used so far, on par Philips Norelco Shaver with the Series 9 in this regard. I find it too large and unpractical and I would very much rather have a pop-up trimmer always at hand.
The beard trimmer works fine as long as you don’t try to go too fast. The Braun Series 5 has worldwide voltage adaptation and a convenient travel lock. There’s a Clean&Charge station to hygienically clean, lubricate and dry the shaver with a proprietary alcohol-based solution. Although our testers thought the Series 5’s cleaning cartridge was “kind of a pain to install”, they were pleased with its result.

It goes easiest on the skin while being keen about not missing even a single hair. There is no beard that is impossible for this machine to trim and shave not even the hardest and the trickiest beards.
Series 5 is on par with Series 7 in terms of shaving closeness. With almost the same cutting elements, shavers from both series can satisfy most men. They do not deliver the closest shave in the category of foil Remington Shaver shavers but are still at the top of the class. In addition, you will experience a lot more vibration and noise shaving with Series 5, whereas the counterpart gives you a less trembling and quieter shave.
Braun recommends replacing the Series 5 cutter blades and foil every 12 to 18 months to keep you looking good and feeling comfortable.
