You have to go over repeatedly, or in my case, go over with my old Norelco I wanted to replace. If I shave again the next day, I am happy with this Braun, otherwise it is a disappointment. But what if you purchased a Series 5 model that does not come with a cleaning station. Or maybe you want to take your shaver on vacation and don’t want the worry of bringing it along. The shaving unit is identical to the one found on top of the Braun Series 7 (Model 790cc-4). Simply press the button in with your thumb while sliding upwards and the trimmer will spring right up. Even things like button placement and charging port are almost the same. Oh, and they feel near identical in the hand too.
That’s where the similarities between the shavers ends. The 5040s has a precision trimmer on the back of the handle. You don’t need to remove the shaver head, find the trimmer, and attach it to the shaver. You can edge your sideburns, goatee, beard, or mustache. The Series s and cc both have precision trimmers on the handle itself. You won’t lose any attachments for shaving when the trimmer is right on the shaver.
This makes it incredibly difficult to see what it is you are trimming. As you may have guessed by the name, travel lock is most commonly used when you are squashing your electric shaver into an already overflowing luggage. Oddly enough, the cleaning station looks near identical to that found in the Remington Shaver box of Braun’s top end shaver, the Series 9.
