As of 2012, all of Hamilton Beach’s appliances are manufactured by subcontractors in China. Microwaves can sometimes cause interference with your TV or radio, so position the appliance as far from your TV as possible. For proper ventilation, make sure that there are at least 3 inches of space around the sides and back of your Hamilton Beach microwave and 12 inches above it. Obviously, this unit eats up a lot of space, and may be impractical for kitchen counters without some extra room. The slower carousel speed may lead to uneven cooking on occasion.
The black color is modern looking, and the buttons are flush with the surface. I thought that the button used to open the microwave took more pressure than I am used to. This could be a benefit in a household frigidaire gallery dishwasher with small children, as it may prevent them from opening the microwave. However, for older people or those with dexterity issues, this could be a hinderance. First of all, i like its color, matte black.
The controls could use a little work, they seem a bit less user friendly than I like. It always seems to bother me when I am cooking. But I didn’t have to set up the microwave oven. I have set up microwave ovens before, in my previous home, but not this one. Microwaves are a bit heavy, but I always seem to be able to find help with the installation process. Also, I like the space of open cooking area, functioning of the door, how it fits with the cabinets, the ease of cleaning the unit.
