The Dyson 360 Eye uses its camera, obstacle sensors and SLAM to read the room as it goes. It’s a black and white, relatively low-resolution 360-degree camera pointed at a roughly 45-degree angle that gives the robot a live, panoramic view of its environment. The S6 MaxV is equipped with two front facing irobot vacuum cleaner cameras along with the company’s proprietary ReactiveAI obstacle avoidance tech. Consequently, it’s an expert navigator that carefully avoids obstacles like toys, stray dog turds, etc. It will even take a snapshot of the offending object and send it to your phone, should you want that kind of thing.

On hardwoods, the 890 was able to capture about 98% of debris tested. On low pile carpet, the number drops slightly to around 92% and on high pile carpet, it drops a little more, closer to 88%. The 350dia x H91mm lozenge can get right under all but the lowest furniture, and when it moves from hardwood floors to rugs and carpet it boosts the motor speed for better cleaning results. The twin rubber brush bar is easy to untangle and exceedingly good at picking up pet hair.
The new design in images look much flatter and wider than the former. Control of the 360 Heurist vacuum cleaner is through the Dyson Link app, which is true of all Dyson’s smart products, from its air purifiers to its Lightcycle task lamps. There’s a little more to using this vacuum cleaner than its predecessor, starting with a requirement to map an area before the robot can clean it. You can store maps of multiple floors, moving the 360 Heurist around your home to clean everywhere. My problem with the Roomba is that while it picks up dust, hair and other things, it often doesn’t do a thorough enough job of it.
