Coleman Sundome 6 Tent Review

The storage pockets inside the tent are useful for keeping valuables and small items safe and accessible in your tent, which is great. There are better-suited backpacking tents available, but this simple dome-style tent is more more for casual campers. The floor area measures 100 square feet, which is enough for a group of ozark trail 4 person dome tent four people to sit and socialize comfortably. Being on a tight budget doesn’t mean that you can’t buy a good quality tent. The Coleman Sundome 6-Person Tent is an excellent choice for those who don’t want to break the bank. We looked at EVERY size of Sundome to compare them and give you the most comprehensive overview.

With floor dimensions of 10′ x 9′, there is lots of space inside for sleeping and extra gear. This tent also features an included rainfly and bathtub floor with welded seams to keep you dry when it rains. Coleman’s 6 person tent with screen room is a great option that gives you some extra room for either gear or a screened room to relax and avoid the bugs. Outside of the screened room, the main part of the tent is basically a standard dome tent. This makes the tent pretty easy to set up as there are only 2 poles for the main section and only 1 additional pole for the screened room. Having tested a number of six-person tents of late, we’re happy to report that the Coleman Sundome 6 was among the easiest to set up and take down.

The tent has a lantern loop inside that you can use to hang your night lamps. It has two interior mesh pockets that I think is not enough especially when you have a lot of people staying. The tent has inverted seams which are supposed to prevent water from leaking into the tent via the seams. However, some users reported that there is still leakage during a torrential rain.

The dark fabric also helps keep the tent cooler, which is a nice plus in the hot summer months. Cost-wise, the Dark Room will set you back approximately $30 more compared with the regular Sundome. The second feature that makes this tent great is the tent walls. Unlike traditional dome-style tents, this tent has more vertical walls giving you more headspace and overall volume inside the tent. This is a nice feature because we’ve all experienced how it is difficult to stand up in many tents.

The vertical walls offer plenty of space to move around inside and the rooftop mesh provides good ventilation and lots of stargazing opportunities. While they say it’s seam-sealed, the tent fly is extra small and offers minimal coverage. This includes strong aluminum poles and easy-to-set-up clips instead of pole sleeves, as well as the company’s gear repair expertise and warranty.

But if you want something completely different, see this KAZOO Family Camping Tent ozark trail 4 person dome tent which is an instant cabin but with aluminum poles and a full-coverage fly. Bushnell’s Sheild Series tents are great camping tents that offer lots of great features for those who are wanting a little more than just the basics.

Hopefully, at the end of the article, you will make your decision on buying the tent. This Coleman WeatherMaster 6-Person Tent was our highest scorer in terms of overall comfort. Mostly due to its roomy cabin space and spacious porch addition. But… there is nothing better than hopping in a roomy, spacious tent like this after a night of campfire stories, smores, and cold beers.

Even with its extra screen room, this tent finished in the top 5 of its class for ease of use and set-up.
