It seems like it was a one-off fluke, and honestly, the resolution was simple enough that it didn’t bother me too much. This little grill cooks just as well as my full sized Weber Genesis II 300 series. Since I am only cooking for two of us now, capacity is not an issue. I can put it in the portable bbq trunk and take it to the park or beach. The stand itself is a bit on the flimsy side but it’s nice for use on the deck and I can fold everything down and roll it away in the corner when not in use. The only downside is that I go through the 1lb gas bottles after only a handful of cooks.

The major difference between these models is that the Q1200 has a thermometer built into the grill lid. The Q1200 also comes with an electronic ignition compared to the 1000’s clicky push button. The grill is compact enough to fit into tight spaces but still offers a ton of cooking space. The lid is tall enough to let you cook a beer can chicken and there is enough grate space for a big pile of chicken wings.
