How DJIs Phantom 4 RTK Delivers Reliable and Accurate Site Surveys

This keeps the camera steady for smoother shots even in relatively high winds. The rotors are raised slightly higher than the ones on the 3. There are rumors and other DJI dji mini 2 fly more combo reviews speculating that developers did this to keep the propellers out of the camera’s frame when accelerating. The DJI Phantom 4 is a drone that’s been making a lot of noise in the past few days, with a lot of people praising it as an experience that’s a cut above the rest. We’ve gotten a lot of mail asking for our two cents on this newest flying sensation, and after talking about the Toruk AP10 last month, we’re ready to give our verdict. The Drone-Sky-Hook ARROW Release & Drop device perfectly fits the DJI Phantom 4 series drones and will not interfere with the DJI Phantom 4 VPS sensors that remain fully operational.

In its upgraded Return to Home mode, the dji drones Pro can automatically choose the best route to return home depending on environmental conditions. It records its route as it flies, allowing it to return along the same route avoiding obstacles if the control signal is disconnected. When Course Lock is activated, it locks the current Phantom 4 nose direction as the aircraft forward direction. The Phantom 4 will move in the locked directions no matter what its orientation is. This easy navigation allows you to fly in a set direction as you fly alongside moving objects or across scenes.

The Auto setting does a great job, but tends to expose more for the shadows. Since the shadow detail retains more information in the Phantom 4 RAW files, I preferred to use Manual mode to expose for the highlights, then bring back some shadow detail in Lightroom. I’d definitely recommend purchasing one of these shorter lightning to USB cables, rather than using a regular length one which will be left dangling off the controller. You can use a range of tablets, but I found the Mini to be the best in terms of size/weight.

(In P mode the drone is limited to 15 degrees of forward or lateral bank.) Physics takes over from there. In moments, you can have the flying past you at speeds up to 45 mph. Although Sport mode is a ton of fun, it’s a necessary feature, as well. The Phantom 4 RTK is a light-weight quadcopter with detachable propellers.

I truly know of no drone in the $1500 – $2000 range that can best this machine. Indeed, I know of no other competing drone below $2000 with a full 1-inch camera sensor. It is a well built, well spec’d and easy to operate machine that produces near-pro level video and some solid still photos. We see why it is still being offered as the leader in the Phantom line of drones.

Then you can try and bring the exposure back up a little in Lightroom. It’s worth remembering at this point that we are talking about images coming from a tiny camera housed dji fly beneath a quadcopter which is capable of hovering hundreds of metres above the ground. The sensor offers an ISO range from 100 to 1600 for stills and 3200 for video.

3.What is the resolution and format of the photos captured while recording video? Photos will be captured as JPEG in the same resolution as the video recording. The Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 features new low-noise propellers, OcuSync, and a redesigned controller. The Phantom 4 Pro still wins in a few areas in camera performance and stability, winning sometimes sheerly because the size of the device makes it more stable in the air. Some will simply have a preference for the way the Phantom 4 Pro flies. There is still plenty to like about the Phantom 4 Pro even in the face of the Mavic 2 Pro.

The Phantom 4 drone’s camera has the capability to shoot 4k videos and 12 megapixel photos. According to DJI, they tweaked the camera to shoot 1080p at 120 fps. Casual users may not notice much of a difference, but people who are fond of slow-mo will find this useful. While the Phantom 4 drone can momentarily lift over 1.5 kg, for safety reasons the maximum payload should be less than 800 grams under ideal conditions and recommended not to exceed 500 grams.

So when you’ve flown the Phantom 4 to the right spot, your mind can take a break from flying to concentrate on getting the shot. Speaking of which, let’s look at the Phantom 4 for photographers like ourselves. Regarding the controller itself, I found it lightweight, comfortable and robust. Samll things I didn’t like included the rubber battery port cover, which I found too fiddly, and the choice of rubber used for the grip elements, which I can see getting dirty very quickly. The camera and gimble are obviously more fragile, and require a protective guard to be used when transporting the drone.
