April Tool of the Month

If you have thick grass, you don’t have to worry about pushing your lawnmower through it because the gadget will power through on its own. If you have a slope, your mower should be able to propel itself along the incline as well. The EGO 56V mower has headlights, foldability for storage, 6-position cutting height adjustments, and push-button start. Greenworks shook up the battery-powered OPE market with its 25-inch commercial mower a while back. Now they have a 60V version for homeowners and it has some updates for this season. We took the Greenworks Pro 60V 25-inch self-propelled lawn mower out to see how it stacks up against the best mowers we’ve tested.

That experience trickles down to the development of the homeowner-focused 42-inch model. There are some trade-offs to consider compared to other options, but our overall impression of the Greenworks Pro 60V CrossoverZ Zero-Turn Lawn Mower is that it’s a success. This Greenworks trimmer gives you the right balance of finesse and power required in your landscaping and lawn maintenance projects. First up, let me just say that this review of the Greenworks Pro 21 has nothing to do with Apple products or services — or any related third party products or services. However, with many folks working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic and with growing concern about protecting our environment, it seems timely. The Optimow 50H did a fantastic job of keeping my entire lawn evenly trimmed.

A self-propelled lawnmower takes most of the manual labor out of mowing your yard because it is powered by a transmission. Typically, this kind of lawnmower runs on gas, though there are some that are cordless electric models as well. You can find self-propelled lawn mowers that come with variable speeds, which the operator controls in order to move the mower forward. For most people, a single-speed mower will do the trick. If different people with unique walking speeds will be using it, then you may need a variable speed mower. Instead of having to push the lawnmower, though, you only have to walk behind the mower and steer it where you want to go.

“With the ‘Try Before You Buy Event,’ we are excited to offer customers an opportunity to experience this innovative equipment in person. I think they will quickly realize the financial and environmental benefits of battery-powered tools, particularly as the price of gas continues to rise.” The ease of use with the controls Ego Powerload String of the saw was a pleasant surprise. There is no additional on/off switch or mode selector. Simply insert a battery, pull the chain brake towards the rear of the saw, press the safety catch lever, then pull the trigger and start cutting. It is a very intuitive process and reminds me of using a traditional gas powered saw.

Of course, that extra weight does have its downsides. The mower is a lot more difficult to lift and transport than its plastic cousins, and you have to expend more energy to push it around, too. There is a self-propelling option onboard the mower to make things a little easier (we’ll talk more about this a little later). We could see the sun joe lawn mower being a great option for those with decks and outdoor furniture. Having no cord to get tangled up on would make that sort of clean-up a lot easier. We also think it’d be great for someone with a patio or porch that needs frequent sweeping.

You also don’t need to fiddle with complicated on/off switches or dials as the blades shut off automatically. The cutting blade continues to rotate for a few seconds after the motor is shut off. Never perform these functions until you are sure the blade has stopped rotating. If you’re in the market for a professional-grade cordless chainsaw, we recommend the Greenworks Pro 80V. This saw cuts like a dream and it has a commendable runtime. Most of all, it has an insanely quick battery recharge time, meaning that you can spend less time watching the battery meter and more time getting your job done.
