Cuisinart Knife Sets

With sets averaging a staggering $1,000+ online, we just don’t find Cutco to be a justifiable brand and feel your money is better spent elsewhere. There was a lot to Cookware Sets like about the Zwilling Pro 7-Piece Knife Block Set and a few things we disliked. For starters, these knives are very sharp and basically aced all of our tests.

This is especially nice for the all-purpose Artisan utility knife, which makes a great backup to your chef’s knife. Though they’re all priced within about $10 of each other, each set is designed to appeal to a certain sort of cook. Let’s take a closer look at what makes each series unique, with notes on what cooking style each is best for.

Cuisinart is without doubt one of the main and most recognizable manufacturers in cookware, so it is no shock that its 15-piece high-carbon chrome steel knife set is a buyer favourite. Like most of the different choices on this listing, it comes with kitchen shears, six steak knives and a sharpening metal. This 15-piece basic knife set has all the pieces you want. It has your whole customary knives, kitchen shears, a steak knife set and a kitchen knife sharpener. While Yoshihiro is not as sharp out of the gate as other brands like Shun and Miyabi, we’ve found that it holds up to dullness, chips, or dents remarkably well compared to its competitors.

A blade that is too hard is prone to chipping and can break if it’s dropped since it lacks flex. If you’re not familiar, the bolster is the part of the knife where the blade and handle meet, and the steel thickens. It provides a smooth transition between the blade and handle and serves as a finger guard, protecting your hand from slipping onto the blade.

Please, whatever you do, don’t just throw your knives in a drawer unless they have a plastic cover. They could bang against each other and chip, dulling the blade prematurely, or—worse—you could hurt yourself when reaching for one. It’s impossible for us to know your personal preferences, and we tried to keep that in mind as we ranked and rated. At the same time, there are a few steadfast rules to follow when looking for a top set. Before buying, ask yourself what kind of knives you like and how many you need. You may not know the exact answer yet, but it’s worth considering how you’ll use the knives before spending money on a set.

As a bonus, the kitchen shears are a highly-ranked pair that we already loved. This Wüsthof set is relatively lightweight for German-steel knives. These precision-forged knives are made from a single piece of continuous high-carbon stainless steel, so they’re super sharp and won’t rust easily. The full-tang blade is seamlessly attached to a comfortable polypropylene handle that didn’t slip in our hands, even when wet. We would have liked to see a smaller serrated knife included with this set. It ended up being our least favorite knife in the set because it’s large and we weren’t sure what to use it for.

Each has unique materials, construction, design, and quality. While people sometimes confuse Zwilling and Henckels knives since they share part of the parent company’s name, they’re two separate brands. Zwilling is a higher-end premium knife brand, while Henckels is the more budget-friendly, entry-level option. Most experts claim that bath towels should be replaced every two years or so (though that “rule” isn’t necessarily set in stone). The cotton construction offers supreme softness, and many of the more than 10,000 reviewers who have tried them say the terry material makes them highly absorbent.

The knives were on the heavy side, which makes it easier to get through dense food, but tired our hands when used for extended periods. We also wish the set included a serrated knife for slicing bread. The double-riveted handles are a little on the heavy side, but they worked with the lightweight blades to create a nice balance while you use the knife. The set doesn’t come with a storage block, so you’ll need to source one separately if you want it. Each knife was a joy to use, and we appreciated the weight balance around the handle.
