Cuisinart Knives Review

Partial or semi tang knives are often lightweight and less expensive, but sacrifice durability for these qualities. Knives in the Artisan and Advantage series are partial tang. Cuisinart made a name for themselves starting in 1971, with the introduction of their home use electric food processor.

While the Cuisinart C77TR-15P Triple Riveted Collection 15-Piece Knife Block Set can’t rival some of the super expensive sets for sharpness, it makes up for it in value and design. The chef’s knife has great balance and a comfortable, nicely-shaped handle. It’s well suited for chopping tasks, taking down onions with ease. The 5-inch santoku knife is handy for chopping vegetables or for those with smaller hands. That means that, all said and done, the Cuisinart Classic series chef’s knife is the best blade you can get for under $20.

The chef’s knife is the most versatile tool in our knife block sets, with its broad and sharp blade. It’s perfect for everything from chopping vegetables to slicing herbs. Our utility knives, known as the “sandwich knife,” also make light work out of cutting baguettes. Paring knives, steak knives, and kitchen shears round out the set, allowing you to choose the right tool for the task. Each knife handle is ergonomically designed for firm gripping and accuracy. The Cuisinart Stainless Steel Hollow Handle Set is made entirely of high-carbon stainless steel for a sleeker and more contemporary design.

The bolster is also protected at the bottom by a layer of unsharpened steel, making it easy to grip the blade on the butt edge without the risk of cutting into your supporting fingers. The Cuisinart 12-Piece Color Knife Set is a budget-priced, basic knife set that is versatile enough to meet the chopping and slicing needs of most home chefs. We love that they’re color-coordinated, too, making them easier to spot in a drawer full of cooking implements (and great for kitchens where storage is super-limited). It’s also helpful for avoiding cross-contamination while you’re doing food prep, chopping meat with one knife and vegetable with another. Love that they come with covers, especially the smaller ones.

We loved the Japanese-style, 15-degree edge on these knives. Combine that with the blades’ thinness, and you get a sharp knife that doesn’t snag when it cuts through food. The serrated bread knife was sharp enough to cut through crusty baguette without having to apply firm pressure, and the bacon in our BLT sandwiches didn’t cause the blade to snag once during the tests. We loved that the paring knife was comfortable to use both on the cutting board and when hovering above to peel apples, too. It has all of your standard knives, kitchen shears, a steak knife set and a kitchen knife sharpener.

For this price, you’ll be hard-pressed to find any major brand that can compete. The closest competitor is Victorinox, though their Fibrox Pro chef knife still comes in at nearly twice the price of a Cuisinart chef knife. Again, this is a product of both the material used for the handle and how it’s shaped.

The triple riveted handle and high carbon stainless steel blade balance each other nicely, and the full bolster will protect your finger while you’re cutting. The Cuisinart® knife block sets are a “must” for meal prep. Our stainless-steel knives make it easy to slice, dice and chop all your favorite ingredients. The cutlery block helps keep them safely stored and neatly organized for next time.

Kitchen shears and sharpening rods are also popular additions. Cuisinart knife sets include two sets of knives — the basics included in every set and the optional knives that round out a given set. Cuisinart doesn’t advertise their exact edge angle, but in demonstrations for their knife sharpeners, they advise you to sharpen their blades to a 22-degree angle per side or a total angle of 44 degrees.
