With this shaver head, you can achieve a very close shave and less skipped hair while shaving. Since you’re switching from a manual razor, you will likely need at least a couple of weeks to start getting good results. The first few shaves probably won’t go as smooth as you’d like, but just keep at it.
When the cleaning indicator lights up in the shaver display, insert the shaver into the C&C, as described above. Using the special cord set , connect the station power socket to an electrical outlet. The Clean&Charge Station has been developed for cleaning, charging, lubricating, disinfecting, drying and storing your Braun Remington Shaver shaver. If you regularly clean the shaver under water, then once a week apply a drop of light machine oil on top of the Foil & Cutter cassette. Next, switch off the shaver, press the release button to remove the Foil & Cutter cassette and let it dry. A full charge provides up to 50 minutes of cordless shaving time.
If you’re in a hurry, the quick charge function can come in handy. Charging the shaver for 5 minutes should provide just enough juice to complete a shave. To this end, I would recommend avoiding any Series 5 models that do not come with a cleaning station. I’ll be straight up, the cleaning station takes all the hassle away from cleaning your shaver.
The thumb rest area integrates the power button as well and it sits pretty much flush with the surface. On the back and sides, there’s a dimpled rubber insert that along with the sculpted Braun Series 5 profile of the handle and the low weight ensures excellent grip and ergonomics. That’s almost 60 grams less and it really makes a significant difference when holding and using the shaver.
After having pressed the lift button to open the housing, wait for a few seconds before removing the used cartridge to avoid any dripping. Start the cleaning process by pressing the start button . If status light does not shine (C&C switches to stand-by after ca. 10 minutes), press start button twice.
Rinse the shaver head well with hot water until all soap has been removed. Generally speaking, the trimmer is 60% smaller than the previous model, and it takes a lot more time to trim the sideburns and mustache as not being as wide. One more issue users would like Braun to improve is the length or extension of the trimmer. It is currently too short, making it difficult to see the trimming area. To cap it all off, I’d say this device here is the perfect “Mid-Range” product if there ever was one. But then, you have to consider the comfort level Braun offers.
To recharge the battery, only use the detachable power supply provided with this appliance. If the appliance is marked 492, only use Braun power supplies coded 492-XXXX. This appliance is provided with a special cord set with integrated Safety Extra Low Voltage power supply. Do not exchange or manipulate any part of it. Except when charging, always unplug this appliance from the electrical outlet immediately after using. The cleaning station runs off the same charging cord that plugs directly into the Series 5 shaver. Unfortunately, the short charging cord strikes once again and you will have to sit your cleaning station quite close to your power outlet. This flaw was also present in the Series 9 and Series 7 Shavers we reviewed. It would be impossible to find how many hairs are missed by this irregular shape.
