EGO ST1623T POWER+ POWERLOAD String Trimmer with Line IQ

We always look forward to these visits because we often get to preview new EGO products. This trip was no exception, and we got our hands on the latest EGO Carbon Fiber String Trimmer with an Auto-Feeding Powerload Head . It’s the only technology of its kind and removes a major pain point in reloading string. We’ve now officially reviewed this battery-powered trimmer and even compared it to other models in our latest best battery-powered weedeater roundup . Pro Tool Reviews is a successful online publication that has been providing tool reviews and industry news since 2008. In today’s world of Internet news and online content, we found that more and more professionals researched a large majority of their major power tool purchases online.

I’d left the trimmer on the ground and I accidentally stepped on just the plastic trigger snapping it off right at the housing. No problem I thought, I’ll order a replacement. Opened it up, removed the plastic trigger, looked online for the part number and found out that Ego wouldn’t sell the part to me.

Patented POWERLOAD™ technology automatically winds your trimmer line. Replacing yourstring line is as easy as feeding the line into the head and pressing a button! A carbon fiber shaft makes itthe strongest string trimmer on the market – backed by a lifetime warranty. With its telescopic design, quickly adjust the shaft length for ease of use and comfort. Get over 60-minutes of continuous cut timewhen used with the included EGO 56V 4.0Ah ARC Lithium™ battery.

One of the notable features that our team got super stoked about is the carbon fiber shaft. EGO found a way to bring landscape tool users into the world of lightweight, strong, and durable carbon fiber. The benefits of a lighter and tougher shaft ought to be obvious to anyone who has ever picked up a string trimmer or pole saw. Carbon-fiber delivers a nearly impossible-to-break shaft that weighs far less than steel. It alleviates the stress on your back when using this tool for an hour at a time.

However, I do have an area that I had let become overgrown and had not touched it the past 2 summers. I decided to put the EGO trimmer to the test, but I did not expect it to have enough power to handle this area. The trimmer did not back down from this challenge, I run my weed eaters pretty hard and this trimmer tore through the weeds quickly and effectively. I recommend this trimmer, but I would have to say it is a good idea to get the 5ah battery or have a second battery on hand. I bought the trimmer and leaf blower both with batteries so I can have a spare.

It does just fine around chain link, but that really depends on your line choice. I love the ECHO twisted line, it cuts really fast and well, but around fence, if just gets chewed up. There is tougher line that doesn’t eat away, but then it usually doesn’t cut as well either.

The battery will hold its power for 30 days, so there’s no worry if it has been sitting for a while. The battery can also be left in the charger—it won’t overcharge. The build quality of most of the battery operated chainsaws, trimmers, blowers that I’ve held do not feel very skookum. There’s not really a mower designed to cut that kind of land, and I’d have to have more trimmer/blower batteries than I’d like to pay for. I’d like to see them bring out an attachment system capability with the CF shaft but I wonder how the real weight savings over the AL shafted products actually is. No more mixing gas and oil but still having the power.
