Dyson Debuts First Robot Vacuum Cleaner, the Eye 360

These battery operated towers will send an infrared signal that creates an invisible barrier your vacuum will not cross. You can set it in doorways to prevent access to a room or area, or turn on radius mode to surround items such as pet food bowls and easily knocked over items. The Roomba also has drop detection sensors that prevent it from falling off stairs or ledges. This is generally bissell crosswave cordless when dark carpet has stark contrasts between light and dark, or tile floors are black and white. Pricing on the potential robot vacuum isn’t certain, though the Heurist retails for £800 (~$1,088). The new filing doesn’t guarantee that Dyson will ever release the 360 Hyperdymium, much less in the states, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for a potential release date or new details.

The V7 features a 30-minute run time and is slightly less expensive than the Dyson V8 model. The design is obviously quite different than any of the robot models, but I believe is still worth mentioning. In terms of usability, the Roomba 690is as usable as any Roomba. It has the same simple onboard interface and pairs up with the iRobot HOME app for easy scheduled cleanings and other features. TheDyson 360 Eyehas a full-width brushroll that spans the width of the vacuum, with two large wheels on tracks to help navigate flooring transitions or obstacles like cords or area rugs.

It’s personal preference if you want your robot vacuum cleaner to stand out, mind. A few robot vacuums have a clever self-emptying feature, most notably those of the iRobot Roomba series. These can transfer the refuse they pick up to a larger compartment in the docking station, letting them carry on for weeks with minimal maintenance. As mentioned, this vacuum cleans deep, and is especially good on carpets. The 360 Heurist (£899) takes the same basic form as the original – albeit with a swanky blue paint job – but most other aspects have been improved.

This new vacuum pictured in the filing shows something flatter and wider. Robots like the Roomba vacuum and the Braava Jet mop can be convenient, but they are best for people who have the enthusiasm and patience to deal with technology. Once put on the right path, they can lessen the load of endless house chores, which is a boon in a pandemic or out of one.

We loved the ability to name each room, to define areas and restrictions on the map the robot generates, and the ability to schedule cleans. Impressively, this robot returns itself to its docking station to charge. However, it occasionally struggled with this, bumping into the docking shark cordless station rather than parking itself. In addition, when it does steer onto the docking port, it can be insecure. On one occasion, having watched the vacuum take itself back to its dock, leaving it there between tests, we were disappointed to return to find it had not charged properly.

It’s one Dyson Link app for all your connected Dyson machines; so the Heurist lives alongside any heaters, coolers and Lightcycle lamps you might have in your household. Thankfully this all very Dyson-esque, with compartments and segments all popping apart with ease. The 330ml dust bin is on the small side but is super simple to pop out and empty. Powered by Dyson’s V2 motor, which Spins at 78,000rpm, Dyson informs us that it has 20% more suction than the 360 Eye. The 360 Heurist has plenty of performance improvements over the original 360 to make it a better cleaner – we’ll get to those – but the most intriguing feature is night vision.

The Hottest Startups in AmsterdamAmsterdam continues to punch well above its weight, combining tech powerhouse status with being one of the most livable cities on the continent. One final hangover from the original remains; its unwillingness to successfully dock and charge after a clean. Frequently, just like a drunk sleeping in his own doorway, the Heurist gets so close to the charger and seems to think, ‘that’ll do’ and just stops.

Our home is 1800 sq feet and I’m not willing to remap the whole works for one missing piece. A lot of homes are open concept in Canada, and the zoning feature doesn’t work well when there are no walls. If you aren’t a fan of the Dyson stick vacuum line-up, there are plenty of Dyson uprights that are great choices as well.
