You don’t have to use the stand if you prefer not to. The griddle lifts off quickly and can be placed on a table or cart like any other tabletop griddle. I spoke to customer service yesterday and they informed me that the only difference between the models are cosmetic. Any parts/accessories would be interchangeable.
