The price of electric shavers varies massively, and there’s no guarantee that an enormously expensive shaver will work for your individual face and beard growth. Build quality and battery management will also be significantly better. These cut-down versions lose some of the convenience, but you’re getting great shaving tech at a lower price. The pop-up trimmer is similar to Braun’s design, and it works just as well for mild sideburn grooming. Remington’s center bar design isn’t as sophisticated as Braun’s, but our testers found the shaver to work almost as well. As a side note, on the back of the shaver there’s a small area that appears to have the same textured rubber insert, but it’s actually just plastic so it’s not as grippy. Unlike older budget Philips razors, it actually seems pretty solid and well made. The shaver is quite large, definitely Remington Shaver larger than what the official photos might suggest, but it is very lightweight at 189 grams, so the ergonomics aren’t really affected by the size. The new Philips Shaver 2300 comes with an integrated pop-up trimmer that you can use for some on-the-fly tweaks and light grooming.
The rotary heads make it easy to move with you skin, and the pressure sensors alert you when you’re pressing too hard or not enough. The Dual Steel Precision blades cut at a whopping 150,000 cuts per minute so no errant hair is left behind no matter how quickly you have to get ready. And if that’s not smart enough for you, the accompanying app tracks your shaves and offers you tips to improve. Braun Series 5 Modern electric razors can deliver impressively close shaves, but they can’t quite match the closeness of manual razors. The Series 7 razors consistently produce close, comfortable shaves and are easy to use and maintain. To get the smoothest, most comfortable electric shave, no matter which shaver you choose, you need to remember that electrics can’t easily get as close as a blade.
