Dyson Debuts First Robot Vacuum Cleaner, the Eye 360

Read the full review of the Dyson V10 cordless stick vacuum here. The Dyson V10 has a dust bin capacity of 0.76 L, over twice the capacity of the Roomba lineup. The main difference between the rubberized brushroll and the bristle brushroll is maintenance.

The price it’s in the upper echelons of the robo cleaner price range but you do know that you’re paying for tried and tested technology with the Dyson brand, and the cleaning performance is superb. What makes the Dyson 360 Heurist different from other robot vacuums? Dyson engineers developed the 360 Heurist with heuristic – or learning – abilities. This means based upon previous cleaning sessions the vacuum will continue to better understand the layout of the room and map obstacles in the home allowing for more intelligent and efficient cleans in the future. While the vacuum is running it uses a top-mounted fish eye camera lens to create a 360˚ panoramic view and incorporates SLAM technology to have a continuous view of where it’s been and where it still needs to clean. When encountering dark or dimly lit areas during evenings, night time, or under furniture, a LED light illuminates the camera to ensure proper mapping and cleaning is still achieved.

● The vacuum cleaner is easy to operate with simple one-touch control. Other than very particular and unreachable corners, no other spot in your home will remain uncleaned with this vacuum cleaner. It knows precisely where it is and which area it has yet to clean with its sensors measuring distance every 20 milliseconds. When Dyson first unveiled the 360 Heurist last year, it said the vacuum would not get a U.S. release because the design made it ill-suited to cleaning larger, more complicated homes stateside. It was unusually taller and narrower than most rival robovacs like the Roomba. This was supposed to enable it to perform some tight cornering, but also meant it struggled to vacuum under furniture with a low base.

From there you can name your robot, create and delete schedules, see reports on cleaning cycles, start, stop, pause or continue cleanings and see reports on battery life and charging times. Both iRobot and Dyson have mobile apps for their robotic vacuums. Connecting your smart home to your vacuum has never been easier.

Robot vacuums can be more expensive than upright or cordless vacuums. Still, you’re paying for the added convenience of not having to do the vacuuming yourself and worry about how often you should vacuum. Robot vacuums are an excellent solution for busy people irobot vacuum cleaner who don’t have time to put the vacuum around. Still, they offer a good alternative for those with mobility issues because all you need to do is switch them on. The Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8+ can vacuum and mop, ensuring your hard floors are left sparkling.

Your best options are going to be theDyson V10or one ofDyson’s upright models. Both of these brands design exceptional vacuums, however they tend to serve some consumers better than others. One could argue that theDyson V7is less usable than the D8 because it shark cordless has a shorter run time and less suction, but for smaller homes or homes with hardwoods, this may not make a difference. In the case of the Dyson V10, this button is actually a trigger. When you hold it, the vacuum is running and when you let go, it stops.

Again, this has quite a few similarities to newer V-Series models. The biggest strike against good usability has got to be the 20 minute run time. For many homes, this may simply not be enough time to get the job done.

We’re very happy with the little vacuum, but the software is lacking. When mapping our home, about 1/2 of the bedroom floor was missed. I can’t find any way of re-mapping just that one piece of the puzzle, and so the vacuum is missing that part. I thought the mapping would be updated as more areas were found – but that doesn’t seem to be happening.

So the next time I stepped out to take my dogs for a walk or went to the grocery store, I instructed the Roomba to vacuum the bedroom and the Braava Jet to mop the kitchen. Even so, the robot mop rode onto my thin floor rug in the living room without hesitation. The company suggested that I set boundaries in the map to tell the robot not to mop in certain areas. High-tech vacuums and robotic mops are having their moment in a pandemic that has contributed to never-ending messes at home.

Nevertheless, it is always worth checking as some may focus on certain other areas, such as picking up pet hair, over being great on harder floors. It picks up from where the 360 Eye left off and is still one of the most feature rich robot vacuum cleaners available. However, it’s also pretty clumsy initially and you’ll have to do a lot of tweaking to get it performing at its peak in your house.
