We used the santoku knife to chop onions, celery, carrots, and mushrooms for a stir-fry. The serrated knife came in handy for slicing through the skin on cherry tomatoes from our backyard garden for a salad. It’s also great for slicing chewy loaves of bread, rolls, and bagels. We don’t often reach for the curved paring knife but we found its shape was ideal for deseeding small bell peppers and jalapeno peppers.

Should you, if you want your knives edges to stay sharp? Spend a few bucks and get the plastic or bamboo boards, they’re just as tough and won’t ruin your knives, no matter how much you spent on them. They are the same as any other knives except for the non slip/stick coating so yes!

Not sure myself as I have purchased this set too,but I would be inclined to write or call cruissant and ask them as they are the merchant.. I thought they were but they are metal as they stick to my knife magnetic board. Maybe, when I received them I had to sharpen them to use them. I was happy with the knives once they were sharpened. They were a bit of a disappointment when I received them. Using a dishwasher will damage your knives, I recommend hand washing.

Children should not handled these knives at anytime without adult supervision. While the edge on the chef’s knife is as thin as on an Asian-style knife for precision cutting, it gotham steel cookware sets has the shape of a western blade for heft. You’ll find it easily sails through a tomato, creating paper thin slices but also rocks back and forth for mincing garlic or herbs.
