The blades would coat with hair build-up and pull rather than cut. But that was laziness on my part rather than a fault of the electric shaver and a quick clean saw the problem fixed. That is correct, the blades of rotary razors usually last longer compared to foil shavers. The combs/guards of rotaries are significantly thicker, the downside being that you won’t get a particularly close shave (as you’ve also noticed). From what I can tell, cheap/basic rotary shavers are clearly right for your needs, so keep using them.
