The domed lid of the Q 1200 keeps the wind at bay — even high winds do not affect the flame, even on the lowest setting. Even though it is not necessarily insulated, the heavier-weight cast aluminum lid seems to be well-suited to retaining critical heat when outside temperatures drop. While Piezo igniters can also be finicky in cold weather, the electronic ignition system is entirely dependable . The essential parts – the grill box, lid, and grill grates – are composed of cast aluminum. Nylon reinforced with glass – in a fiberglass kind of way, I assume – is heat resistant and durable. The Weber Q 1200 is one of three grills in the Q 1000 series.
It’s a similar grill with a few upgrades and is built for 16oz bottles. Please don’t get a PRO model, because it will not accept disposable LP bottles. The other common problem noted was from people who found it difficult to attach a 16oz propane cylinder, which I mentioned in the Quality section of this review. I like to use ours when camping and I use it on our deck when at home. I did get the hose adapter to hook to a 20# tank when at home. Received this as a gift and, after the first use, we’re very happy with it. Paired it with the portable stand and hose attachment and found it all very convenient to clean and store after use.

I find this to be the ideal size for two people who grill regularly, or in some cases, a family with young children. If you only use your grill for meat and not for any sides such as potatoes or veggies, it will up to six people. Like a kid on Christmas, I couldn’t help but try out the 2200 the day I got it.
While the Traveler does fold up easily and can be dragged around without too much effort, it is still rather heavy pounds to be exact — especially with the grill grates inside. I personally wouldn’t want to drag or carry this grill on a hike or even a long walk. I needed to keep my weber q1200 off the ground because rodents were getting at the drip pan at night. I have to hold the grill/ cart down when I am cleaning the grill with the grill brush because it is too wobbly. For the price it should have been a little better built.
