At first glance, you might think it’s copper with a heavy aluminum base, but when you lift it, you’ll find it’s surprisingly lightweight. The T-fal ProGrade Titanium Nonstick Fry Pan has flared sides that are great for tossing and flipping, and the surface is nice and slick. But we all agreed that the bulky handle was too big, especially with folded towels or hot pads. We had high hopes for the Farberware Restaurant Pro Nonstick Fry Pan.

A number of new cookware startups offer nonstick skillets, but most are pricey and have persistent stock issues. Material Kitchen’s 10.5-inch pan is currently $95, which is more than we think you should pay for a piece of cookware with such a limited lifespan. The OXO Good Grips Pro nonstick anodized aluminum skillet feels solid and well made. But it lacks enough bend in the lip to prevent grease and sauce from dribbling down the side of the pan while pouring.

So no matter what size kitchen you have, you can find a set that’s right for you. The Tri-Cerama cooking surface is supposed to be safe for metal cooking tools, but I wouldn’t recommend it. The copper exterior provides an elegant appearance for what is a relatively affordable cookware set. There is a good deal of variety offered among each cookware set, and so it is easy to find something no matter what type of nonstick pans you’re looking for. Nonstick cookware of both types is technically recyclable, but many curbside recycling programs don’t take nonstick cookware because it requires a special recycling process. You may be able to find programs in your area, or programs you can mail your old pans to. I wish the bigger frying pan was a little larger, but it works and they are very easy to clean.
