It’s been three years since the Beats Studio3 Wireless headphones made their debut, and they still remain Apple’s premier over the ear wireless cans to this day. The latest incarnation incorporates Beats signature look with new noise cancellation technology and a high-performance battery. They’re comfortable for long gaming sessions thanks to their lightweight frame and padded ear cups. The sound profile also leans towards more bass, making effects like footsteps in FPS games easier to hear. However, their microphone offers a sub-par overall performance, and it only works on PC and PlayStation consoles. Xbox users can only receive audio, which is a little disappointing.
All-in-all, for the same price, we’d choose the Bose QuietComfort 35 IIs any day of the week. The Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless are better over-ear headphones than the beats studio3 Wireless. They also have longer-lasting continuous battery life, and their companion app offers a graphic EQ and presets to help adjust their sound to your liking. However, the Beats have a W1 chip, so you can seamlessly pair them with other Apple devices.
With the ANC disabled, they will last up to 40 hours, which is really something to write home about. If you forget to charge overnight, a quick 10-minute charge will provide 3-hours of playback. I can vouch that this would be a very handy feature for me. We can happily report that wireless performance, whether using an Android or an iPhone, was virtually perfect. Bluetooth connectivity for wireless headphones has come a long way in the last few years, and Beats/Apple are by no means the only company to get this right. Unlike the Bose QuietComfort 35 IIs, the Studio3s don’t offer different levels of noise cancellation.
With a longer battery life you have to charge the device less often. The higher the high-frequency response, the clearer and crispier the treble. The lowest frequency at which the device produces audio. The lower the low-frequency response, the stronger and juicier the bass. I threw a variety of genres at the Studio3s, ranging from the Beatles to Ed Sheeran and back to Bruce Springsteen to Christina Perri.

These headphones come with a detachable 1/8″ TRRS cable that has an in-line remote microphone. They also come with a micro-USB to USB-A cable for recharging the headphones. Unfortunately, they don’t support multi-device or NFC pairing. However, they’re easier to pair than the original Beats Studio Wireless. They also have low latency on iOS and Android devices, which is nice if you stream video. However, their latency on PCs is much higher, which may cause issues with audio and video syncing. That said, some apps and devices tend to compensate for latency differently, and your mileage may vary.
While there was a noticeable emphasis on bass, I found that it worked for many tracks and wasn’t that overpowering. Furthermore, high and mid tones like guitars, piano, vocal and electronic notes came through clear. This was true beats solo pro wireless for tracks off studio albums as well as live editions. If anything, a live version of “Born to Run” makes you feel like you’re in the arena. Similar to the iconic design, Beats is known for putting a heavy emphasis on bass.

Again, this is a problem that all ANC headphones have to try and manage. Still, it’s a refreshing change from the early days of wireless headphone development and worth being rather pleased about. Setup with Apple devices literally takes less than a second, thanks to the W1 chipset that makes the whole process ridiculously simple.
They also have a greater wireless range and better latency performance. The Anker Soundcore Life Q35 Wireless are slightly better headphones than the Wireless. However, the Beats would be more comfortable, and they have a W1 chip, so you can seamlessly pair them with your Apple devices. The Beats Solo Pro Wireless are slightly better than the Beats Studio3 Wireless if you don’t mind the on-ear design.
Sony may not be able to come up with snappy names, but they make some seriously snappy headphones. The WH-1000XM3 are wireless, noise-canceling headphones that we believe are the best pair currently available. The accessories were also impressive, at least until we knew we couldn’t utilize them fully. The Studio3 Wireless come with a pill-shaped carrying case, a micro-USB charging cable, a 3.5mm in-line microphone cable, and a carabiner to hold them all together – and a manual, of course. All the accessories were black and matched the style we ordered. Android users will take the win on this one, if they want it that badly.
