Gotham Steel Nonstick Cookware Review

Although the 10-inch All-Clad model toasted flour just as evenly as the Tramontina pan, it took a full minute longer to get there. That didn’t bother us much, but the extra time might be annoying if, say, you’re trying to quickly cook an egg before running out the door. Even though the All-Clad pan took longer to heat, when we removed it from the burner, it cuisinart knife didn’t brown the flour any more than the other pans, which showed us it didn’t retain excess heat. The pan’s thick encapsulated disk helps distribute heat evenly across the cooking surface. The silicone sheath hugs the Nordic Ware pan’s handle with a steadfast grip. Though it’s not easy to remove for cleaning, we nonetheless appreciate the secure fit.

I worked the omelet station during the Sunday grand buffet at the California Culinary Academy, as part of a work-study program while I was a student there. My second day on the job, the chef handed me three brand-new nonstick pans and told me to take good care of them. When my shift was over, I dropped off the pans at the dish station. About 20 minutes later, I went back, only to find that the once-pristine egg pans were ruined after the dishwasher subjected them to a stainless steel scrubber.

The high, flared sides allow you to comfortably flip food with a spatula. And, as with our other picks, this pan’s bent lip lets you pour out hot grease without any dribbling on your countertops or down the side of the pan. Pure ceramic to the core, Xtrema’s pots and pans are handmade with durability at the forefront of their design. Xtrema’s Versa Skillet took first prize for the best frittata out of all the tested non-toxic cookware and was a favorite when it came to fork-tender meat on the grill. The Gotham Steel pan does not use any PTFE, PFOA, lead, or cadmium in their nonstick coating.

The pots, sauté pan, and fry pans form a tall, yet stable tower when stacked with their lids. When the lids are stored separately, the cookware nests neatly, which T-Fal says gives you 45 percent more storage space in your cabinet. As with all cookware, you have plenty of choices when it comes to materials, inside and out. Non-stick, stainless steel, copper, ceramic—there’s a stackable version for every preference. Many sets work on most, if not all, cooktops, including induction, and the pans can be safely slid into the oven to a certain temperature. If treated with care, these Gotham Steel cookware sets can last a very long time, and being so affordable adds to the value here.

I called and waited too long for a representative and then after 10 min of talking I was hung up on. So I called back again, waited too long again, finally talked with another representative. This one acted very interested in helping me but at the end of the interaction I was told they would send me a prepaid label, instead of making me pay for it, which they did. Also I was told I would receive a new set and I would get a conformation it was being sent. This was a week and a half ago, not new set and no conformation.

You might be wondering, doesn’t Gotham Steel advertise their Tri-Cerama coating as metal-utensil-safe? In fact, in their infomercials, you’ll see people beating eggs inside the pan with an electric mixer to show how tough these pans are. Polytetrafluoroethylene is a polymer used in Teflon pans and most non-stick coatings.

Weinstein and Scarborough said “Although an air fryer is a small countertop appliance, size is still the most important factor you must consider. It’s a good idea to buy the largest machine you can comfortably handle or Cookware Sets store.” Having a larger machine will allow you to cook different foods at higher quantities. Made In’s tri-ply nonstick fry pan is similarly expensive, currently around $90, and we found it had some balance issues.
