The black cartridge yields a disappointing number of pages, meaning you have to replace it quite often. However, the color cartridges’ page yields are good and shouldn’t need changing as often, depending on how much you print in color. Although having three color cartridges means you can change the empty ones without needing to replace them all at once, the printer doesn’t let you print in color if any are empty. Likewise, you can’t print in color if the black cartridge is out of ink. On the upside, there are high-capacity cartridges available, which will last longer.
