Weber Traveler vs Weber Q: Head to Head Review!

I’m not even sure that I would have, except that I still own a Weber Q grill. I feel like I’d be doing a disservice if I didn’t give you the most accurate review possible. Very little has changed since I reviewed two Weber Q grills over seven years ago. A slight model name change and some cosmetic updates are the only differences between the old and new grills. The Q line of grills still have all of the same features, the same specifications and most importantly, they all operate the same and produce the same results.

But it is expensive to run a website with more than 2,000 pages and we don’t have a big corporate partner to subsidize us. Webers are not cheap, but when you consider that they last decades, the price is easy to justify. Many some cheap grills fall apart after three years or so. These small cookers make travel easy, but obviously limit the amount and size of what can be cooked. They may be used as a table top grill or mounted to a fold out stand with two legs, two wheels and tool hooks.

Our outdoor kitchen design experts have helped thousands of customers transform their backyards at no extra cost. The Weber Q 2200 has the same features as the Q 2000, but also has the additional feature of the built-in thermometer. I am not going to give exact prices in here because that changes on a regular basis. However, in general terms, the combined cost of the Q2200 and the cart is about $50 more expensive than the Traveler. Grill is attached to the cart for quick & easy setup. I have been cooking on both a Traveler and a couple of Weber Q’s for months now and wanted to share my thoughts on a Head to Head comparison.

A final note to all coastal dwellers or poolside grillers, wash and rinse down the exterior surfaces regularly to keep your warranty valid. I’m embarrassed at how long it’s taken me to publish this review, but here I am, four years after the Weber Q redesign, dragging my feet to compile all of my notes. If you like to cook with really high temperatures—I’m talking over 500 degrees—you might have trouble getting there with only one burner. We purchased the Weber Q 2200 so our review could put it to the test in her kitchen. During the summer, I grill out most days, so this grill will get a good workout. This is the 2nd Weber Q 1200 gas grill that I have had and I am extremely satisfied with its performance. Someone must have like my first one also as it was stolen. The Q Series grills are made from cast aluminum and heavy duty plastic which makes them immune to rust when used in coastal areas and near swimming pools. The Weber Traveler is a new portable gas grill that is a legitimate alternative to the Weber Q series.

Remove the grease tray and dispose of the liner and its contents appropriately. Remove grill grates, them, and using warm, soapy water, portable bbq wipe out the grill body and lid, inside and out. The grill grates are cast iron and are more plate-like where they cover the burner.

Heat Flux is the BTU per square inch and is a more useful measure of how much heat a grill delivers than BTU alone. While it doesn’t mean that ribs and similar foods are of the table, it can make it trickier to cook them. After all, grilling on a lower weber genesis 2 temperature doesn’t have nearly the same effect. The biggest issue here would be with the fact that there is only one burner. Now, given the size of the model this isn’t too surprising, but it does create a small issue when it comes to indirect cooking.

The regulator is integrated into the body and employs an infinite controller that is easily adjusted between clearly marked low, medium, and high settings. The body and the lid of weber charcoal grill1000 is made of cast aluminum, making it durable as well as lightweight. The burner, on the other hand, is made from high-grade stainless steel, while the iron-cast cooking grates are coated with porcelain for additional protection. If this was not enough, Weber has reinforced nylon frame with glass, making this grill quite tough. The highlight of the Q 1200 is its porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates. This is the same material that is known as the signature of top-quality cookware like Le Creuset.
