The Shark Cordless Pet Plus isn’t especially hard to store. You can dismount its canister body and slot it lower down the wand to minimize its vertical footprint when not in use. The slider on top of the grab handle allows you to switch between ‘Hard Floor’ and ‘Carpet’ modes, which decrease and increase the rotational speed of the brushroll, respectively. Pulling and holding the trigger inside the handle activates the vacuum’s ‘MAX’ power setting for cleaning stubborn debris. The Pet Plus has a relatively large dirt compartment, especially for a handheld vacuum. You won’t need to empty its dustbin very often when compared to a similarly-priced model with a smaller dustbin, like the Tineco PURE ONE X Tango. Each of the cordless vacuums on our list includes a two-year limited warranty but a quality model should last you significantly longer than that. That said, cordless vacuums do take a beating and you shouldn’t expect any model to last much longer than five years if used regularly.
The canister isn’t very big, which may not bode well for larger cleaning jobs. However, you’ll enjoy a light on the floor head that does allow you to see into the nooks and crannies of your home. A good stick vacuum should be lightweight, but not necessarily light-duty.
