Best Cordless Vacuum of 2022

Just make sure you place the unit inside a plastic bag, so it’s less messy. Turning the unit to handheld is simple and worked nicely as well. I was able to vacuum the entire home (about 1,200 sq. feet) in about 30 min. and the unit was still fully charged. The only negative is that it cannot stand on its own, so it has to lay flat on the floor. I initially had it standing up but it kept falling because it’s top heavy.

The Shark Cordless Pet Plus does an okay job of cleaning low-pile carpet when used in its carpet surface setting with the ‘MAX’ suction trigger pulled. It clears away the majority of fine material like baking soda and larger debris like sand. A noticeable amount of debris can be left behind after only a pass or two. The Shark Cordless Pet Plus has a couple of quality-of-life features.

Notably, at nearly 4 feet, this vacuum is much taller than expected. Since it doesn’t stand up on its own, either, you’ll have to lean it against your furniture or gently rest it on the floor if you need to pause your vacuuming session. However, like many other stick vacs, you can use the Shark Rocket in handheld mode, with or without an extension, to clean furniture, ceilings, stairs, and more. The Pet Plus is a good option for cleaning low-pile carpet.

I have the Dyson V10 but don’t want to spend the same money for our summer house, which is smaller, but still has to vacuum up 4 animals’ worth of hair! I was going to look into a Shark, and now you’ve done all the work for me. I have a stick vacumn but have been thinking of trading up. My husband hates the noise it makes and grumbles every time I pull it out.

It needed help transitioning from a hard surface to a rug, giving it a maneuverability rating of 4 stars. However, the stick vacuum proved to be nimble and flexible when navigating the living room obstacle course. Our tester pointed out that it seamlessly reached under the couch. However, the Shark vacuum does feature a flexible wand that is a real game changer for reaching under furniture. You can stop ignoring the dust bunnies under your sofa, since Shark designed this vac with a hinge that gives the floor head greater reach.

I’ll make it real simple…..I’ve had 2 sharks and now 3 Dysons. The sharks fail in drop tests and crack easily losing vacuum, Dysons have never cracked but the V10 did have a battery die upon which customer support immediate sent me a full replacement. If your several hundred dollar machine can’t survive a simple drop it’s no brainer. It’s really hard to choose vacuums especially when comparing different brands and also when trying to figure out if the new and improved versions are really worth the higher price tag. I appreciate the info on the batteries because that’s so important for anything cordless.

This is certainly something to consider when selecting a model. To clean a Shark vacuum, empty the dust bin after each use. Additionally, you may choose to lightly tap excess dirt and debris from the filters into a garbage can. Some Shark vacuums are equipped with a detachable canister that adds “lift-away” functionality to the machine. This is useful if you want to do a lot of above-floor cleaning, such as removing dust or debris from stairs, ceilings, and upholstery. To make use of this feature, just remove the detachable pod, and carry the canister with you.

For pet owners, the Vertex includes a self-cleaning brush roll to get rid of any tangles that could get in your vacuum’s way. Note that the vacuum includes extra attachments, but you’ll need to find a way to store them as there’s no container shark cordless or bag included for them. Otherwise, this vacuum is light and portable enough to tidy up your home. The vacuum includes two batteries that allow you to clean for up to 50 minutes and can easily convert into a handheld vacuum.

It’s the Dyson v11 Outsize that has 220aw of suction – that’s the Dyson with the oversized head, which is different from the Dyson v11 Animal that I’m reviewing. And while the two bins do have a different method of emptying, the result is the same for both of them with me – I have to reach in and manually pull the junk out. If you have arthritis or other issues with your hands, having a typical on/off switch like you do with the Sharks might be preferable. But BEFORE we had the outlet installed, we didn’t have a good out of the way spot to recharge it so most of the time it was sitting in the corner of our home office which isn’t ideal.
