Although Spirit II is Weber’s entry level full-sized gas grill line, it is still more expensive than many popular low cost brands. However, most Spirit owners feel that Weber’s quality, durability, performance and customer service are worth it. Many cheapo gassers only last three to four years while Spirits can keep grilling for decades. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices on Spirit II 3-burner and 2-burner grills are $599 and $499 respectively, but the street price is about a hundred bucks less. Those who take the long view on purchasing decisions could consider Spirit’s $500 (3-burner) and $400 (2-burner) street prices a bargain. Primary cooking grates made of porcelain-coated steel will resist rust as long as their porcelain coating isn’t chipped.
Better quality grills, like Spirit II, blanket the entire cook box for more even heat and more delicious sizzle . Weber famously calls their tents “Flavorizer Bars”. Note the notches on the sides of each bar which provide a visual confirmation that the burners beneath them are indeed lit. Spirit II has four legs, two wheels and a lower open-air storage rack. Speaking of the warranty, the Spirit II carries that same 10 year all parts warranty as the Genesis II. This is not true of the Spirit line, which has a 2-5 year warranty depending on the part.
Grease and carbon build-up over time might make it look like paint is peeling from inside the lid, but there’s no paint here. Brush the flakes off and into a pan for disposal before they start falling into your food. For anyone looking to get a little more from their grilling experience than a basic barbecue can offer, the Spirit II E-310 is an appealing choice.
Not having an entry level grill and essentially relegating that market share to the CharBroils of the world is a questionable strategy. I can imagine parts for the spirit ii being hard to obtain after a few years. Even with a 10 yr warranty, you’re still out of luck if weber runs out of parts. The Spirit II is rather stylish if not overwhelmingly solid, at least in my personal inspection. The “frame” is really just bent metal, and, unfortunately, those slats on the bottom are just painted steel. We have seen some of the same slats on the Genesis II already rusting in some posts here.
These other grills typically cost around half as much as a Weber and can tempt you into making a “budget based” bad decision. Many people who are shopping for a two burner grill are doing so because they want a grill with a small footprint. The E215 helps in that department by allowing you to fold both side tables down if desired. It turns out that Weber offers three different two burner Spirit grills and, while the Spirit E 215 is great, it is not the best of the three options. I don’t know any grills that have transferable warranty’s.

You got to deal with analysts when your private not a problem. I know I can always replace internals for both for decades to come. Even if Broilmaster/Empire Systems went belly up, generic H burners and ceramic briquettes will always be available as will igniters. I can’t say the same for any of the newer Weber models. Didn’t they DC some Spirit cabinet models a couple years ago only to reintroduce them? I think Weber has too many models right now and that leads to confusion.
