In my experience with this machine, the dirty water is sensed by the 2 metal tabs that sis just inside the dirty water tank. If any amount of liquid or debris gets trapped in between the plastic and the metal portion, the machine will assume the tank is full. Use a towel or just blow the water/debris out of each side and get it as dry as possible. Less rapid movement of the machine while cleaning may also prevent this from happening.
