The design of the Dyson V6 certainly looks very similar to the Dyson V7 and V8 model, and it is. Like the Roombas, dyson robot vacuum there is one simple button to start cleaning. In the case of the Dyson V10, this button is actually a trigger.
This is a handy position for the bin, as you can see quickly if it needs emptying without having to lift up a flap on the robot. Inside the bin is also one washable filter, with a secondary filter at the rear. You can split your home up into zones and rooms, too, using the app to select the options and vacuum power mode you want to use on each.
The 960 uses the same motor that is found in the 800 Series Roombas, which gives it a slightly shorter run time and less power on carpet than then Roomba 980 model. If your house is primarily hardwoods, it is likely that you won’t notice the change in performance between the 960 and the 980, but for carpeted areas, this could be a different story. Dyson also offers an autonomous robot vacuum, but there’s only one model—the Dyson 360 eye. This model is a high-end robot vacuum that offers many of the same features and stats of the Roomba line-up, but is quite a bit more expensive. For cleaning hardwoods, Roomba is likely going to be your best bet, especially the Roomba 980 or Roomba 960which both scored 100% but for carpeted floors, the Dyson V8 has a real advantage.
As another bonus, the 890 model has a full bin indicator light which is something that the 690 does not have. It has a sleek black body with the central “CLEAN” button and similar layout and controls. The 890 has wifi-connectivity so you can pair it up with the iRobot HOME app and schedule cleanings or view other settings directly from your phone. Because of the advanced navigation, the Roomba 960 is also better at coordinating large or tricky spaces. Memory mapping allows the 960 to create a digital map of the area that needs to be cleaned.
However, if you have furniture with small gaps underneath them the Heurist obviously won’t be able to limbo its way in there. In my house, we have a big side cabinet that our Roborock machines have no issues navigating under but the Dyson doesn’t come close to getting involved. Its clearance is excellent, confidently passing under furniture only 1 cm higher than it. And if, for example, a duvet or blanket is hanging off a bed, this vacuum will pass underneath and continue cleaning. The Dyson 360 Eye will come with the docking station, the charging cors, the 360 Eye itself, and the owners manual. The collection bins are pretty easy to remove and empty, although the Dyson bin does take a bit to get unlocked.
The main benefits of the smart sort are an ability to approach floor coverage a bit more efficiently and, perhaps more important, setting “no go” areas. While the battery life and suction has improved greatly, this is not a fast cleaner, and if you have a large, cluttered house it will almost certainly need a halfway recharge before completing the job. It’s not an issue really, as you can schedule it to clean when you’re not around. And one final bonus for pet owners, the dedicated pet mode increases cleaning power to compensate for extra hair and the cameras will be on high alert for any unwanted little presents left on the rug.

Its cameras and lasers build up a detailed map of your floor as it performs its initial clean. This is then saved by the smartphone app, so you can send the X8 to clean individual rooms and set virtual boundaries to cordon off no-go areas. This simple and intuitive operation, accompanying an affordable and capable robot, makes for a compelling package that’s excellent value for money. During testing each robot is connected to Wi-Fi and controlled through the supplied app, where available.
