Char Broil Performance 300 2-Burner Cabinet Gas Grill Review

I spent the better part of two weeks grilling on the Char-Broil Performance XL. It looks good, performs well and at $299, it Blackstone Adventure was the most affordable grill we tested. I’d recommend the Char-Broil Performance XL to beginners and grillmasters alike.

Monitoring the temperature of your items can be tough, particularly when cooking thicker meats, like burgers or steaks. Some grills have thermometers built in so you can monitor the heat on an ongoing basis. But you may also want to look into a meat thermometer that will allow you to test the temperature of your meats for doneness. Char-Broil Performance 5-Burner gas grill with side burner provides worry-free cooking.

It’s easy to assemble and equipped with electronic ignition to ensure reliable starts and a sleek upgraded design for classic good looks. The warming rack and main grates are also rust-resistant porcelain coated cast iron for better durability and easy cleanup. The burners disperse heat across 475 square inches of primary cooking space, and there is an additional 10,000 BTU lidded side burner tucked away in the left side table. The lid folds down over this burner to provide extra workspace for food preparation.

This model is the smallest grill in Char-Broil’s Performance BBQ line. Available at Tru-Value and other independent retailers it has heat indicators above each stainless steel burner just like Char-Broil’s Commercial grills. There’s no natural gas option on the grill, which is a shame for people who don’t like cooking with propane, but that’s really one of the only downsides to the grill. The storage space may get just a little tight with the propane tank, but I’m sure you’ll be able to manage. What I can’t speak to is how well it will hold up over multiple grilling seasons.

You’ll need an adjustable wrench, a screwdriver, and a 7/16″ combination wrench to put this grill together. It does come with a labeled blister pack of hardware, which makes it easy to stay organized. The firebox comes pre-assembled, and assembling the rest of the grill takes typically about one to two hours on average. We looked at the top Gas Griddles and dug through the reviews from some of the most popular review sites. Through this analysis, we’ve determined the best Gas Griddle you should buy. These questions – and the multitude of possible responses – are what make Char-Broil® the only brand for anyone who feels grilling is a reason to LIVE IT UP.

The Char-Broil Performance XL has a classic look with its stainless steel design and black detail. Grill grates above the five stainless steel burners are made of a rust-resistant porcelain-coated cast iron. A temperature gauge on the lid displays the grill’s interior temperature. A cabinet beneath the grill with double doors houses the liquid propane tank and grease collection tray. This grill uses a standard, 20-pound liquid propane tank, and it cannot be converted to use natural gas. The Char-Broil Performance TRU-Infrared 500 is a 3-burner gas grill featuring Char-Broil’s TRU-Infrared cooking system.

The burgers cooked evenly, though on high heat they were more well done than I prefer. With the Performance XL, my chickens took on average of 1 hour, 11 minutes to fully cook, not including a 10-minute preheat. That’s faster than the other three grills we tested, and the chickens from this grill were easily the favorite of the group. The grill grates are porcelain-coated cast iron meaning they’re not only made to last but also to be easily cleaned using a hard wire brush. That means you don’t need to worry about washing or scrubbing these to get them ready for the next use.

Cooking Hamburgers, ribs, hot dogs, or even fish (if you’re into that) should be easy on this model. Although, for more even cooking, check char broil performance out our review of the Camp Chef flat-top grill. Char-Broil Liquid Propane Gas Grills come with two 12,000 BTUs for a total BTU of 24,000.
