Weber Genesis II E-315 Natural Gas Grill 66015001

This feature allows you to roast meat (a whole chicken, for example) very evenly, yielding a flavor that some people prefer to that of grilled food. While the EX-325s offers a lot in the way of connectivity, it does have some limits on storage. It still features six tool hooks for your grilling tools, but it does not come with the grill locker portable bbq that some of the new Genesis models have. It does have the two side shelves, but that required sacrificing a side burner for additional cooking space. The Spirit SX-315 marks the first smart grill in the Spirit line. The CONNECT system will help guide you through the timing of when to flip your meat to achieve that perfect doneness.

If you are a grilling enthusiast and have been looking for the right new gas grill, you have most likely already heard of the Weber brand. Another handy feature on this Weber grill is its fuel gauge which allows you to determine how much fuel is left in your tank. Another thing I love about Genesis II is the wedge-shaped bars, designed to protect the burners from grease and drippings. Our R&D department develops high-quality, fairly priced grilling equipment. Most small and average-sized grills have two separate burners, controlled independently, or one burner with independently controlled halves.

Porcelain-enameled, cast iron cooking grates and Flavorizer bars ensure a consistent temperature for succulent, juicy meat. This 3-burner gas grill is framed by two large, stainless steel tables for all your grilling needs. You’ll have plenty of room to cook steaks, burgers, hot dogs, kebabs on more. One of the smaller models, the Spirit E-310 can still be enough to serve up to seven people. The fuel tank is mounted outside with a large, easy-to-read fuel gauge.

All of the various iGrill models link to the Weber mobile app, which lets you monitor the Genesis II wirelessly from a distance of 30 feet. The scope of the app is narrow compared to Char-Broil’s SmartChef application. It tracks propane levels, burner status and even tells you if the grill is cool enough to cover. Weber’s app just sticks to measuring temperatures of meat, fish and poultry as you cook. A component in Char-Broil’s “Tru-Infrared” grilling system, the plate is designed to absorb the heat from the burners, and use it to mimic the radiant heat you get from charcoal. The different cooking methods likely explain the results of my cooking tests, too.

They went all out for it, which is why it is understandable that it costs so much but that doesn’t mean most people easily afford it. Apart from that, the S-435 grill is compatible with the Weber iGrill 3 app. This app can take readings from up to 4 meat probes and allows you to monitor the grilling process remotely from start to finish. Straight out of the box, it’s clear that this grill means business. It comes with a presence right from the moment you meet it.

On both the CharBroil SmartChef and Weber Genesis II, the ribs were too thin to shield their probes from ambient hot air under the lid. As a result I fell back to cooking by time weber charcoal grill instead of hitting a target thermometer reading. Both grills turned in slightly underdone ribs after a 3-hour cook, so I bumped the time up another 30 minutes for round two.

Plus, each burner ignites independently, with infinite adjustments between “on” and “full,” giving you total control over your heat distribution. I’m liking the look of the twin stainless steel side shelves, too as it feels like something from a professional kitchen. Weber has used high-quality materials throughout like porcelain-enameled cast iron, and stainless steel. Well, I suppose it’s true that you can get the job done with the most basic equipment.

Especially at the longer cook time, the CharBroil ribs were dripping with moisture and succulent. All this makes the Genesis II suited to more experienced grill enthusiasts with the patience to master this high-end unit. If smarts in a more forgiving high-end grill is what you want, the $800 Char-Broil SmartChef portable bbq Tru-Infrared is slightly cheaper and easier to use. You should splurge on this Weber grill’s smart app upgrade. As for downsides, the S-435 grill has one – it’s pretty difficult to assemble. It comes with a lot of parts, but the manual at least seems decent enough to somewhat alleviate the challenging assembly.

It is designed to deliver heat to the searing rack quickly to give you those meat sear marks. This means that you can store your tong, forks, and other tools. You will not have to put them on the floor or close to the grill.

To measure how grills perform under high heat conditions, I subjected them to our burger test. This exercise shows how much raw power a grill can bring to the table. I ran three such tests of six 5.3-ounce burgers each pressed from the same hamburger press. I flipped all of the burners on high and gave the grill 10 minutes to preheat. To add smarts to the Genesis II you’ll need to purchase the iGrill 3 accessory separately, a $100 upgrade.
