Coleman Sleeping Bag

All you need after a long day of hiking in the woods is a good night’s sleep. It has everything you need to enjoy the outdoors, be it an extended camping trip in the mountains with family or a solo day trip to a hiking trail. The polyester face fabric is durable, so it doesn’t need to be treated as delicately as some premium bags that require special care. You can wash the Big Bay in a front-loading washing machine on gentle with mild liquid detergent and run it through a low-heat dryer cycle. I’ve laundered the Big Bay once, and the insulation has stayed in place. This bag should last you for many years, and to ensure it does, it comes with a 5-year limited warranty against manufacturer defects and workmanship.

Many Coleman sleeping bags include a five-year limited warranty to ensure that the product will be free from defects in material and workmanship. Additionally, we determined whether each bag could legitimately fit on or in a backpack and whether its weight was acceptable to carry. In a pinch, could one double as a backcountry bag on a multiple-day backpacking trip? Although this feature isn’t a necessity for most car campers, it’s still a nice feature. Testing determined that the Teton Sports Celsius XXL and Coleman All-Weather Multi-Layer required a bit of elbow grease to stuff them back into their sacks. Its interior is not as comfortable as its rivals, tending to grab onto a tossing and turning sleeper, ending up a bit twisted in the middle of the night.

At less than 4 pounds with all layers connected, the One Bag is streamlined, lightweight, and reasonably packable. The rest of the design is equally premium, including a water-resistant YKK main zipper, roomier-than-average hood, and fleece-lined compression sack that can pull double coleman cabin tent duty as a pillow. Anytime a company adds features or upgraded components to a sleeping bag, it adds to the cost. When you’re new to camping, the goal is to find a sleeping bag that has the features you need and none of the ones you don’t, which is what the Big Bay offers.

Minor qualms considered, this double bag is better than other two-person models we’ve tested in the past and currently. This sleeping bag measures 81 x 39 inches (206 x 99 cm), and its weight is 9.1 lb (4.13 kg). In view of this, I would describe it as a great 3-season car camping  bag. Colorado-based Kelty has been in the camping business for a long time, and we like what they’ve come up with in the Galactic 30. What makes this bag unique is its combination of quality 550-fill-power down with a rectangular shape. Most traditional camping bags stick to synthetic fill for cost savings, but lofty down clusters offer a premium feel and warmth that polyester just can’t match.

For anything colder than that, you’ll need extra layers as well as a beanie, or you’ll want to consider another bag altogether. Most recreational campers won’t be sleeping in temperatures that low (it’s already transitioning into winter for me at that temperature), so this bag is practical for most people’s needs. There are advantages and disadvantages to both synthetic and down insulated sleeping bags. Down is more expensive, but can offer more insulation with less weight.
