You can replace the chain with any old 6/7/8 speed chain. If the freewheel wears out, you can replace it with a modern 6 speed freewheel from Shimano. Pretty much all of the parts can be replaced with modern versions as they wear out. THis bike has Suntour gears and rear schwinn mountain bike hub – these systems are not available anymore. THis means that when the chain starts skipping, you can’t just replace it.
