Ozark Trail North Fork 12′ x 10′ Outdoor Wall Tent with Stove Jack, Sleeping Capacity 6

Now a few years later I erected it in the backyard just for fun. They claim they are weather tested, but I feel they don’t include rain or wind as elements of the weather. The question I put to you are you making this material out of pewter or real metal.

It’s common to troubleshoot positioning in windy conditions, but neither the Mineral King 3 nor any straight-poled dome tent we tested collapsed in this way. Once we Velcroed the poles to the fly via the tabs that run under the seams, the poles stabilized. And with some added staked lines, the tent was as sturdy as any we observed. But under windy conditions, you’ll want to reinforce the poles with all available mechanisms and not cut any corners in setup. Also, like the Mineral King, this tent is short on stakes.

With that in mind, we concluded that the best option for two people is a large three-person, or smaller four-person, tent. As for bigger groups, we concluded that the best option for families with three to five members is a cabin-style tent rated for six people that’s also tall enough for an adult to stand in. If you’re looking to save money but still want that cabin tent experience, the Ozark Trail 10-Person Two-Room Cabin is tough to beat.

It has two main cross supports that thread through sleeves, stretching between the four corners of the tent. Generally, we like clip-on designs better, since those are easier to put together, but in the case of the Base Camp models, the sleeves add extra tension and stability throughout the tent fabric. There are also two poles that cross over each doorway and down the sides of the tent to add extra shape and support. The rain fly has an additional tent pole, too, to support the vestibule. Overall, these poles contribute to a particularly sturdy structure, with or without the rain fly. During our testing, our Base Camp shrugged off both a rainstorm and a desert windstorm as if they were nothing.

So next time you go camping instead of relying on a Walmart special, use your head. I bought this tent and was very dissatisfied, two off the poles snapped right where they connect in the silver part. This is the first time to use this tent so it was brand new.

A valuable feature to improve comfort is the awning at the front, which creates more shade outdoors and provides rain cover before you enter your tent. The inside is nice and cozy with the thick floor attached, and a stove is going when it is cold. You get a front and rear roof vent that sits just below the ridge ozark trail tents and allows heat and moisture to escape when needed. There is no bug netting on the door, so you can use a pyramid-style bug net over where you sleep or try to craft one yourself to sit behind the canvas doors. We found that company representatives are reluctant to estimate the lifespan of their tents.

We also tested at the Mountain Oak Campground, located an hour or so east of Los Angeles, where at night the temperatures stay much cooler than in the surrounding valleys. Here, we also faced an onslaught of no-see-ums (biting gnats). Our testing also included sitting through thunderstorms on the public land just south of the Hualapai reservation, near the Grand Canyon. Finally, Kit somewhat cheekily borrowed many of these tents and thrust them into the hands of guests at his own wedding.

Mine is red and black and the rainfly covers everything except for a tiny place to get in. We have never been able to sleep in it and makes a poor storage room. I am 67 yrs old and have used Ozark Trail tents for years, but this covered screen dome turned out NOT TO BE A TENT. I have tried to use it at our local beach and when ever the wind gets to 7-10 mph off we go chasing the tarp and that leaves the screen dome uncovered and in blew the sand.

All bidders are encouraged to preview items before purchase. By placing a bid, the bidder signifies that they have examined the items to their satisfaction, or that they have chosen not to personally examine them. The three-room cabin is definitely one of Ozark Trail’s more expensive models though, so if you’re shopping on a budget, there are plenty of ozark trail canopy other models worth considering. The Clip & Camp dome is particularly affordable, and also happens to be one of the most dependable models the brand currently makes. Livability describes the overall day-to-day experience of owning and using a tent, and tents that are more comfortable, convenient, and easy to use score the highest in terms of livability.
