Robot vacuum cleaner

There’s no guarantee of course that this product will end up in the US, but an FCC filing does obviously suggest that this is Dyson’s current ambition. At the heart, it uses S.L.A.M. that helps stitch together a constant 360 degree view of the area it’s cleaning. A top mounted camera helps it “remember” areas it has cleaned and areas it has not. It almost doubles the height of any current Roomba or Neato vacuum which hurts its ability to clean under furniture.

You’ll also find a model number “X277” – this is one greater than that of the Dyson 360 Heurist, which was X276. This is different from the Dyson 360 Eye , which was released in 2016. The robot in the FCC filings looks like it’s built to stay much closer to the ground than the irobot vacuum cleaner 360 Eye, which should allow the device to fit under low spaces, like under a couch. As noted by The Verge, this device differs from the 360 Eye and the more recently launched 360 Heurist, which are both taller and slimmer in order to navigate around tight corners and furniture.

Google Assistant is also supported, if that’s your smart helper of choice. Dyson touts its carbon fiber and nylon brush that’s roughly as wide as the 360 Eye itself, but a lot of the stuff the 360 Eye struggled to collect was hiding in corners or up against the side of the test pens. But, you can start, pause, and stop cleaning runs from your local Wi-Fi network or a reliable cellular connection.

No data is transmitted to the cloud, and there’s no option to view the live feed, so anyone worried about privacy or security can rest easy. Pricing on the potential robot vacuum isn’t certain, though the Heurist retails for £800 (~$1,088). The new filing doesn’t guarantee that Dyson will ever release the 360 Hyperdymium, much less in the states, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for a potential irobot vacuum cleaner release date or new details. Dyson’s website says the 360 Eye has, “Twice the suction of any robot vacuum” with the caveat that, “Suction testing based on ASTM F558, dust-loaded against robot market.” It’s also on the loud side, so don’t expect to have a conversation in the same room where this thing is running. You can look at the design for clues as to when you might encounter problems.
