Char-Broil Performance 475 4-Burner Gas Grill Review

We are here, however, to tell you about the Char-Broil Performance burner cabinet liquid propane gas grill. Weber’s Spirit II E-310 is a great-looking (we loved the bright red) three-burner grill that cooked food well, but not great. With an MSRP of $599, it’s a bit overpriced weber spirit 2 for what it is, but we really liked the size and design. This grill also had the tool rack and medium-heat knob indicators I missed on the Char-Broil Performance XL. The Performance XL cooked burgers in an average time of 13 minutes, 57 seconds to reach 145 degrees as a batch.

The rust-resistant porcelain-coated cast-iron grates are durable and allow you to enjoy the same performance each new cooking session. The side burner is an excellent way to further spice things up by preparing sauces or sides. There are top-ported burners that provide a wide temperature range while the lid-mounted temperature gauge allows you to monitor the heat. Since the burners emit heat from the top, this allows for even burning. However, as mentioned in the What We Don’t Like section, one of the problems we noticed is that these burners tend to run cool. Coming from a popular grill brand, the Char-Broil Performance Stainless Steel 4-Burner Gas Grill is a medium-sized propane gas grill with quite a few good features.

People can use this gas grill for a wide range of applications. For example, it is great for outdoor grilling and almost all the types of cooking activities throughout the entire year. You can take it out of your home to the outdoor living space and enjoy cooking with your friends or family members.

We will be reviewing the Char-Broil Performance Series 5 grill in-depth in this review, so read on to see its features and more. The Char-Broil Performance does away with the pain of flame ignition by providing a one-touch system that gets the grill started with just a push of a button. Indicates whether the grill provides one ore more hooks to hang your grilling tools. The Char-Broil Performance 300 is undoubtedly an easy grill to use. Although Char-Broil states that you can light it up with a matchstick, the entire unit starts up well without one. Its knobs regulate heat properly, and the steps to use other parts are pretty intuitive.

Some average-size grills have up to four burners with corresponding controls large grills often have six. Additional burner controls generally allow the cook more flexibility. This indicates grill temperature when only one or two of the burners are on, to represent a cooking task where the food is placed between or alongside the direct flame. So, you can use it to indirectly cook or grill, but it won’t char your food. This Char-Broil gas grill scores above average and reaches its maximum temperature pretty quickly.

The primary cooking area of the Performance is 475 square inches, which compares well to other similar models, like the Weber Performer Deluxe. I’m a little skeptical of that, and would put that at closer to (I like to put ample space between meat). I’ve always been a fan of grills with porcelain-coated grates as this coating helps distribute heat evenly across its cooking surface. I’ve found this particularly useful for longer forms of cooking (i.e. not just searing), as it helps reduce uneven hot and cold spots across your grill. Char-Broil has consistently produced affordable propane grills for barbecue and grilling newcomers, with their Performance series standing as their best one yet.

It’s also nice to look at a propane grill and not see the ugly tank balanced on a stand or resting on the ground. The twin side shelves look spacious and seem to invite you to cook more food and experiment with flavorings. Quality isn’t totally lacking, but unlike other grills we tested, there’s no indicator for a medium heat setting.

So, expect style, decent quality, and reasonably durable grilling gear. When you make rubs at home we recommend you add salt first then the herbs and spices because salt penetrates deep and the other stuff remains on the surface. We put salt in these bottled rubs because all commercial rubs have salt and consumers expect it. You can still use these as a dry brine, just sprinkle the rub on well in advance to give the salt time to penetrate. For very thick cuts of meat, we recommend adding a bit more salt.
