Best Weber Genesis Grill Review

The number of primary burners in this grill is 4, with their heat output being 48,000 BTUs. Although this grill has no fancy features like infrared burners, its heat capacity should be enough for the size. Should you want to relax and have a chat with someone, then your weber charcoal grill mind can be at ease with the iGrill 3 app. It will monitor the temperature and state of your food alerting you as and when there are updates. It is a convenient feature that sends notifications to your phone in case you forget that you’re the designated grill master.

With the Genesis II line, Weber has attempted to ramp up the quality of their products. In addition to updating the overall design, they’ve made the burners and ignition systems more efficient. You’ll notice a single push-button igniter on the Genesis II series, with an igniter on each individual knob (featuring easy-press design) on the Genesis II LX series. The LX series also boasts an ambient light and high-heat option on each unique knob, a luxurious set of features that also serves to set the LX series apart. The most common issue was a hotter front of the grill than the back as a result of the gas pressure not reaching the back of the grill.

Weber Connect® smart grilling technology is your secret ingredient to perfectly grilled food; whether striving for that perfect medium-rare steak, or experimenting with a new recipe. One of the questionable decisions made with the previous Genesis II was the complete elimination of sear burners. Many gas grills cannot effectively produce intense searing temps and need additional sear burners to get that truly mouth watering steakhouse sizzle. The Genesis II E-335 is a versatile three-burner gas grill with several added features.

The grill takes around eight minutes to reach a preheat temperature of 500 degrees, but because of its construction, it maintains a high temperature using less fuel than other grills. The next test was a couple one and a half inch thick strip steaks. While Genesis II 2.0 main burners get mighty hot, models with additional sear burners like our E-335 blast past 800°F into steak house temps. You can sear foods like thin steaks, shrimp and veggies hot and fast. But if you want a thick steak with delicious, brown crust on the outside and a pink, juicy center, reverse sear is the way to go. With reverse sear, aka sear in the rear, you can make better than steakhouse steaks at home.

Personally I’m not sure if there was really a call for a 2-burner Genesis, but here it is and it is an excellent grill either way. It just happens to be surrounded by really good competition in the Spirit II models. Finally there’s the semi-protected enclosure for your propane tank, complete with gas level indicator. You have your flavorizer bars, catching some of the grease drip and turning it into delicious smoke to really give your food that barbecued taste. Looking towards the bottom though, the enclosed cabinet standard on the old Genesis grills is gone, and you now have an open design.

One of the first impressions you get from a Weber gas grill is when you lift the lid and feel its substantial weight. The lids feel heavy and sturdy, the handles strong and secure. The new tapered burners that provide consistent gas flow from front to back for even heat distribution. The Weber Genesis II E-310 is your best bet for the superior grilling experience that only the best outdoor grills offer. The E-310 only has two swiveling casters, so it can take a little work to move your grill back and forth like a handcart to get it in the right position. The two casters lock, keeping your gas BBQ grill safely in place once you’ve set it where you want it.

But we cooked salmon on both the skinny and the thick side of the grates and had no trouble with sticking either way. All of the grills in the higher-priced Genesis II LX series have stainless lids and stainless grates, which aren’t as prone to scratching and chipping as porcelain-coated grates. In addition to a side burner, the LX grills have a cabinet where you can stash your grilling accessories and an LED light that shines down from the lid when you open it. The grills in this series also come with electronic igniters, a fuel gauge, and a 10-year burner warranty. With room for up to 18 four-ounce burgers, the Weber Genesis II E-210, $500, is in our small-grill category.
