Press the small button in the middle and slide upwards whilst the main razor is running. Purchased this shaver for my Dad for xmas and he absolutely loves it. He was initially a little worried as he had heard the series 7 was better, but it did not disappoint. It’s an older generation and only Remington Shaver marginally different to the 7, but was easy enough for him to use without cutting himself an easy enough to charge when needed. Bought in Dec. 2017 and stopped working 3 months ago – braun replaced motor, pc board and battery. I’ll have to phone Braun again and see what they will do this time.
If the shaver is regularly cleaned with water, apply a drop of light machine oil on top of the foil once a week for lubrication. Sometimes charging could start delayed Braun Series 5 (e.g. after long storage). After having pressed the lift button to open the housing, wait for a few seconds before removing the used cartridge to avoid any dripping.
I would never buy a Braun product again if this is the way they treat their customers. I hope that someone from Braun reads these reviews, and bothers to contact me. The right to repair movement in Australia is calling for companies to make it easier for their products to be repaired. Here are some electronics and appliance manufacturers who are starting to listen and make it more feasible for consumers to repair, rather than replace, their items.
As I mentioned earlier in the review, you can lock the shaving unit into one of 5 different positions using the big button on the front of the shaver. This is best used when movement Remington Shaver would make shaving tricky, like just above your upper lip. Oddly enough, the cleaning station looks near identical to that found in the box of Braun’s top end shaver, the Series 9.
To shave hard-to-reach areas (e.g. under the nose) slide the MultiHeadLock switch down to lock the shaver head. When the shaver is fully charged and connected to an electrical outlet, all 3 charging segments will light up for a few seconds. A full charge provides up to 50 minutes of cordless shaving time.
