Inside the Series 5; the Lithium-ion battery takes an hour to charge and provides 45 minutes of shaving time. I was able to get a full shaves out of it before having to recharge the battery. Only Philips Norelco Shaver disadvantage being that you cannot use this device when plugged in. If you don’t mind cleaning your shaver manually and you are comfortable using shaving creams, then 5040s is really a good find.
This shaver comes with its own clean and charge station. This Braun Series cc yet again offers great value for the price tag it has. Along with all the latest technology this is also a great product from Braun. Since the price difference is not that significant anymore, the 5040s would be my pick. There are various models available, with or without a cleaning station and all of them shave the same. But if you don’t suffer from sensitive skin and a closer shave is more important, the Arc 4 will be a better choice for a similar price. Regularly cleaning and lubricating your shaver will prolong the lifespan of the cutting parts and minimize the wear on the blades and foils. According to Braun, you should replace the shaving head of your Series 5 shaver once every 18 months. This is only a broad guideline and it will depend on how often you use your shaver and how coarse your beard is.
The design of the Series 5 is so sleek that the braun Series 9, which is the high end of the Braun range, has the same design and is highly recommended. The handle is widest at the top, near the cassette, and then tapers down in the middle. The Braun Series 5 is a majority black colour, with small bits of red or blue detail, while the shaving head comes in either black or silver. The shaver has 3 flexible blades that are advertised as being able to effortlessly follow the curves and contours of your face. I used shaving foam with it and It left patches of hair intact pretty much all over.

Although our testers thought the Series 5’s cleaning cartridge was “kind of a pain to install”, they were pleased with its result.
If a manual clean of the Series 5 seems a bit fiddly that’s because it is. It takes a few good minutes to get all the hairs out and I was still not convinced that there weren’t any left. Cleaning our gear is an integral part of any shaving routine and ideally it should be fast and easy to perform. I will say it right off the bat, as far as shaving performance goes, they are very similar.
