DJI Phantom 4 Pro Drone Registration

The aircraft will choose the best flight path to return home and senses as far as 300m to avoid obstacles more effectively. If the control signal is lost, the phantom 4 Pro will retrace its original path to regain its connection after 1-minute. When it reconnects, it will return to home following a straight route.

In its upgraded Return to Home mode, the dji drones Pro can automatically choose the best route to return home depending on environmental conditions. It records its route as it flies, allowing it to return along the same route avoiding obstacles if the control signal is disconnected. When Course Lock is activated, it locks the current Phantom 4 nose direction as the aircraft forward direction. The Phantom 4 will move in the locked directions no matter what its orientation is. This easy navigation allows you to fly in a set direction as you fly alongside moving objects or across scenes.

I truly know of no drone in the $1500 – $2000 range that can best this machine. Indeed, I know of no other competing drone below $2000 with a full 1-inch camera sensor. It is a well built, dji fly well spec’d and easy to operate machine that produces near-pro level video and some solid still photos. We see why it is still being offered as the leader in the Phantom line of drones.

That’s a 5,870 mAh battery hauling around a 3 lb drone at up to 45 mph. When it comes time to travel, the DJI Phantom 4 Pro does not fold down, you simply install the camera gimbal lock and protector (that’s just one piece) and then quick release the propellers. The camera is on a 3-axis gimbal and packs 4K recording in a 1-inch CMOS sensor at 20 MP. There are two variants of this drone, the Phantom 4 Pro and Phantom 4 Pro+.

However in practice, I found the useable ISO range rather limited, especially for photos. The photos can be saved as Adobe DNG RAW, and video footage can be saved in flat profiles such as D-Log and Cine-D. The features a 1/2.3″ CMOS sensor, allowing it to capture 4k video at 30fps (1080p at 120fps for smooth slow-mo), and 12 mega pixel stills. This field of view isn’t quite as wide as a GoPro, but provides a good balance between an immersive perspective with little distortion.

I find it far more likely the cops jammed the control channel causing failure than software auto-crippled the product due to GPS location. I incorrectly assumed DJI implemented the protest areas as “no fly zones” but actually, the DJI drones just fell out of the sky without entering any no fly zone. It would have been a lot better for the drone operators if they had made them standard no fly zones, instead of just making them fall out of the sky as reported. DJI drones in no-fly zones don’t fall, they land or return to home. Like many others, I have abandonded DJI when they made Hong Kong protests a no-fly zone and caused DJI drones to fall out of the sky who tried to film it. Up until that point, I was unsure if the U.S. government’s fears of DJI acting as an extension of the Chinese government were true.
