These headphones have full mic and audio compatibility on PlayStation consoles when connected via analog to the controller’s AUX port. Unfortunately, they don’t support multi-device or NFC pairing. However, they’re easier to pair than the original Beats Studio Wireless.

It only plays audio through the ear cup drivers into your ears, and isn’t meant to emit sound beyond the scope of your ears. The Beats Studio3 Wireless supports the SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs and has Class 1 Bluetooth and Apple’s very own W1 chip. If you’re in the Apple ecosystem, you’ll automatically be able to use it with all of your iCloud devices. If you’re on Android, you’ll have to pair the good old-fashioned way by opening up your Bluetooth settings, but even that is pretty seamless. No matter your device, there’s no audio-visual lag on either iOS or Android.

Beats’ Pure ANC actively blocks external noise and uses real-time audio calibration to preserve clarity, range and emotion. The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x are better headphones for neutral sound than the Wireless. Although they’re both closed-back, over-ear headphones, the Audio-Technica have a more neutral sound and a slightly better passive soundstage. However, unlike the Audio-Technica, the Beats are wireless and they have controls, a microphone, and active noise cancelling, making them more versatile headphones overall. They’re also slightly more comfortable and their battery lasts up to 23 hours.

Right now, I can use the same charger to refuel my MacBook Pro, Pixel 2, and Bowers & Wilkins PX, but if I actually went all in on Apple’s ecosystem, I’d need three different cables. Beats says with noise canceling off, you can expect about 40 hours of battery life, and that was pretty close to what I got. So that would mean you can listen for a little under two days; on average, with off and on listening, I got around three days before needing to charge. With noise canceling on, Beats estimates around 20 hours, and at most I was able to get 18½, with some pauses with the headphones being turned off. In our Beats Studio3 review, we found that they deliver everything you’d want in a premium set of wireless Bluetooth headphones.

The Beats have a slightly better-balanced default sound than the Plantronics. They’re also more comfortable, portable, and have a sleeker design that’s stable enough for the gym and sports. The Plantronics, on the other hand, have a better wireless range and battery life than the Beats. They also have easier-to-use controls with more functionality, and they sound a bit more exciting thanks to their deep and powerful bass range. The Wireless are better headphones than the Beats Solo Wireless. The Studio3 are over-ear headphones that are more comfortable and have a good-performing ANC feature.

The Studio3 Wireless come with a pill-shaped carrying case, a micro-USB charging cable, a 3.5mm in-line microphone cable, and a carabiner to hold them all together – and a manual, of course. All the accessories were black beats studio3 and matched the style we ordered. Android users will take the win on this one, if they want it that badly. They even boast a quick charging feature too, which grants them five hours for a 10 minutes of charging.
