The Braun Series s comes with an auto sensing motor that automatically reads beard density and adjusts the shaving power accordingly. This is a very new technology for Braun Series 5 that was not implemented in the older generation shavers. Braun designed the existing Series 5 models with 3 pressure sensitive shaving elements as a result; the Braun 5145s is highly efficient for sensitive skin. I’m used to the 5 series shaver and although this is a 5 according to Braun, it’s more like a 5a type.
I am only drawing attention to it because other brands of electric shavers do not contain this flaw. These are called charging studs and when they make contact with the included cleaning station, the battery will instantly begin to charge. Much simpler than plugging and unplugging the charging cord from your shaver. The cleaning station is essentially a dock that cleans, charges and lubricates your electric shaver.
The Series 3 have a simple light that will alert the user when the battery is low. The Series 5 models have indicator lights that will let you know when you are coming close to needing a charge. There are 5 lighted areas for indicating how much longer you have for shaving time.
Nevertheless, it is certainly a nice device and easy to use. Does what it’s supposed to do, without too many extras. This razor is one of Braun’s Series 3, 5, 7 and 9 shavers, and it’s designed for maximum comfort and convenience whether you’re shaving wet or dry. Because it is waterproof up to 15 feet deep, you can use it to shave wet with water, foam or gel.
One full charge of 60 minutes gives you 50 minutes of shaving time. It also has a 5 minute quick charge option, so you can get just enough battery for a quick shave before you head out the door. It would suit guys that shave every two days and don’t really have course hair. Gents that shave their heads every 2 or 3 days may find may also find it a good purchase. It should also be a good buy for those that get neck irritation from other electric shavers. Everything about the Remington Shaver is easy enough; from charge to shave and cleaning I cannot fault it unless I use it with a lot of growth.
This may vary according to your beard growth and environmental temperature. To this end, I would recommend avoiding any Series 5 models that do not come with a cleaning station. The whole cleaning process appears to be designed to steer you towards using the cleaning station. Braun’s cleaning stations work the best out of all the major brands and the Series 7 did not disappoint. The alcohol based cleaning detergent thoroughly removed all traces of hair clippings and even lubricated the blades.
