iRobot Roomba J7+ robot vacuum cleaner review

Indicates the vacuum’s ability to remove surface debris from a bare laminate floor. The iRobot limited warranty shall not apply to failures or problems which are caused by products or equipment not authorized by iRobot Corporation. Only iRobot offers Dirt Detect™ technology to focus on the dirtier spots, like the high-traffic areas of your home. Our most powerful Wi-Fi® Connected Robot Vacuum that captures dust and particles even in the tricky corners of your home.

We suggest scheduling it for when you’re out of the house, as this is admittedly a noisy robot vacuum, particularly on hardwood floors. However, with an average pick up score of almost 97, it’s a capable vacuum on both hard floors and carpet. We noticed that it’s better at picking up pet hair and kitty litter compared to Cheerios — this is usually the other way around. The i3+ EVO offers 10 times the suction power of the entry-level bissell crosswave cordless Roomba 600 series, and in testing did a good job of removing dirt from hard floors and carpet. When it finds an especially dirty area, it automatically goes into Dirt Detect mode and moves over the offending spot multiple times until it’s sufficiently clean. IRobot recently updated this model with smart mapping capabilities, so you can send it right to specific rooms by phone or voice for targeted area cleanings.

Early adopters who purchased the first round of s9 robots have had some issues with software bugs. Many felt it took a bit too long for the s9 to autonomously learn floor plans. The robot can be controlled through the iHOME app, or by using voice commands through Alexa or Google Assistant. Nonreusable bags collect dirt and debris instead of a reusable dustbin. That would make owning the unit a little more cost-effective with less environmental impact.

You can use the Roborock as two separate robots — a vacuum and a mop — as it has a mop-only mode that moves in a tighter “Z” pattern and goes over the floors twice. I liked to send it out to vacuum everywhere first then recharge and go out again to mop, which resulted in sparklingly clean floors. My top pick, the Roomba j7, does work in combo with iRobot’s mopping robot, the Braava Jet M6.

This brings the level of this bot way up, making it much more reliable than some of Shark’s previous models. (You can’t buy it separately.) For just over $600, you get most of the features of high-end bots that cost half as much again. It’s only 2.85” high so it will fit under toe kicks and furniture that other vacs can’t reach.
