The cleaning cartridge can last for a maximum of 4 weeks if used daily. The level indicator will blink red when the time has come to replace the cartridge. This shaver is 100% waterproof up to 5m of water, so there is no issue if you want to use the shaver while showering. Some of us prefer to shave while shaving to save time, so Braun Series cc is the perfect choice for that. The battery life I got was decent along with superior blades.
I tried to test it in a variety of scenarios so I can get a better understanding of its pros and cons and when this shaver would be a suitable option. For this review, I’ve been using the Braun Series s exclusively for almost two weeks. The battery indicator is very basic, with only 3 levels, each one representing a third of the battery capacity. Charging the 5018s from 0 to 100% takes around one hour. The charger (type 492-XXXX) has a USA plug and will work anywhere in the world (100–240v). Nevertheless, the battery life has been solid during my tests with the Series s.
It is very easy to clean and can be washed with warm water without removing the blades while shaving with it, but after using it, it still requires cleaning properly. I still remove the blades to make sure it’s cleaned very well. This model has a fixed shaving head which is not as flexible while shaving as the higher-priced flexible head models. Buyers are looking at paying more for shavers with a flexible head compared to this model. Very good ergonomics and the slimline design with hand grips does make the series 5 very comfortable to use. The most fragile part of this shaver and all other electric shavers seems to be the head section with the cutters otherwise the whole unit feels solid.
I am convinced that flexible heads are a must on foil shavers, the difference they make in terms of comfort is surprising . 1 full charge provides up to 3 weeks’ worth of shaving. 5 min quick charge is sufficient for 1 full shave. Braun Series cc is equipped with a high-performance and high-capacity battery that can last up to 50 minutes with 1 hour of charging. Ordinary people spend at least 5 minutes shaving daily, and with this model, you can use it for at least ten days before you need to recharge. Braun Series cc is the most expensive lineup and comes with a Clean and Charge station.
This could be a better performing shaver, however, for an electric shaver within its mid-price range, it’s decent and has a lot of positives going for it. The main issue has been performance which can improve when sticking an extra $50 or so towards the purchase. Cleaning is a feature of this shaver that should stand out, hence why Braun calls it EasyClean .
Please double-check which model you are purchasing, as it can be a bit confusing. There are Braun Series s, 5145s and 5190cc in the same category. The only one included with the charging and cleaning station is the Braun Series cc, and the others are not. Braun Series cc is an excellent choice for a reasonable price for those who prefer having the machine self-clean rather than cleaning it manually after each shave. The shaver head is flexible and can be directed in 8 directions to make sure constant skin contact and even shaving.
Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Do not reach for a charger that has fallen into water. When disconnected, the hand-held part of this shaving appliance may be used in a bath or shower.
