Check out our Keurig K-Classic review for a great option. This mid-priced model is just as straightforward to use but includes a 48 ounce removable water reservoir. The Plus coffee maker is a first generation Keurig machine that is compatible only with 1.0 coffee pods, rather than the newer 2.0 pods. Meanwhile, the brewing time is even shorter than the K-Mini, and each of these factors leads to a weaker drink. The Keurig K-Slim has a similar price tag to the K-Mini Plus. However, the K-Slim’s water tank is a far larger 46oz, meaning you won’t need to refill it between each brew. On the other hand, the Keurig K-Mini Plus only brews one cup of coffee at a time.

To keep your Mini in good shape, it’s recommended to clean the external parts or the brewer regularly and descaling it every three to six months. It will save you a ton of money (more than 50% savings per cup, compared to regular k-cups) and it will also help reduce waste. The brewer will turn off automatically 90 seconds after the last brew to help save energy. First, remove the water reservoir and fill it to the appropriate line. Put it back into place and select your favorite K-Cup 1.0.

The fact that the one-cup reservoir is removable is one of the features that separates the K-Mini Plus from the K-Mini. While it might seem like a small thing, the removable water reservoir adds significantly to the user-friendliness of this model. It makes it easier to refill, but even more importantly, it makes it much easier to clean.

However, if you want to brew the coffee into travel mugs when you’re on the move, you can take out their drip trays, offering an extra inch of clearance. One thing makes this brewer different from other Keurig® models; there is no water reservoir. This Cuisinart Coffee happens to be the only reason I prefer this unit – especially for my weekend cottage. The water does not sit in the unit all week while I am away, and winter storage is a non-factor. This means the water will sit in the coffee maker all season.
