We also expected them to feel hefty since they’re made entirely of metal, but as the name suggests, the handles are hollow so the knives don’t feel too heavy.

Before you make a purchase, or make the first cut in your own kitchen, it’s a good idea to simulate slicing and see how a knife feels to you. The steak knives are stored in the knife block too, but the slots are somewhat oversized for them. We found our steak knives were often out of alignment because of this, which makes them look slightly messy. They would look nice at a table setting if it weren’t for the model numbers printed largely on both sides of the blades.

Remember to sharpen your knives regularly for the best results. Damascus knives are made with pattern welded steel. Some also have other metals mixed in with the steel, like nickel and cobalt. Look for the DWYM seal for products that are the best in the category. I’ve had mine for quite some time and haven’t sharpened them yet but they are starting to go dull. I find that they have a good grip and are less slippery than other knives.

It depends on how strong your magnetic strip is. These knives stick fine with the blade guards on. Not sure on the warranty on this product it was bought as a Christmas gift.
