Greenworks 60V CrossoverZ 42-Inch Zero-Turn Lawn Mower Review

We took the Greenworks Pro 60V 25-inch self-propelled lawn mower out to see how it stacks up against the best mowers we’ve tested. Having used and appreciated the commercial 25-inch lawn mower from Greenworks, we loved how they transitioned that product into a consumer product. Now residential users have the option to choose between a traditional 21-inch mower and a wider 25-inch model with dual batteries. That can really shorten your mowing time on larger lawns. Get the 21-inch mower for lawns under 1/4-acre and get the 25-inch mower for anything larger.

You also don’t need to fiddle with complicated on/off switches or dials as the blades shut off automatically. Speaking of the deck, the Greenworks mower has a 21-inch steel deck. 21 inches is a good size for a battery-powered mower (but it’s not even Greenwork’s largest). Also, the blade cuts up to the edge of the deck, making it easy to track your mowing. While the steel deck is strong, its weight may cut into battery life vs. a plastic-decked mower.

Greenworks Pro 80V System offers a range of commercial-grade tools for the professionals and those who just want more power. This 21-inch cordless lawn mower features a durable steel deck, large 10-inch rear wheels, and Smart Cut™ load-sensing technology. Lightweight and easy to use, it has a single lever height adjustment and 3-in-1 operation for mulching, bagging, and discharging. Designed for durability and heavy-duty jobs, it features a brushless motor that delivers the power and performance of a 160cc gas engine.

Wrap the blades or wear gloves, and use extra caution when servicing. Never attempt to make a wheel height adjustment while the motor is running. Read this operator’s manual carefully in its entirety before assembling or operating this machine.

There is a self-propelling option onboard the mower to make things a little easier (we’ll talk more about this a little later). You can buy this model at Tractor Supply for $749.99 with a pair of 4.0Ah batteries and a dual-port charger. Both the mower and the batteries are backed by a 4-year warranty. If you like to mow in the early morning or at dusk, the inclusion of LED headlights will make you smile. Arranged as a string of 6-LEDs, this lets you illuminate your cutting path without sacrificing much in the way of runtime. One downside of this design is the lack of a side discharge.

Objects struck by the lawnmower blade can cause severe injuries to persons. The lawn should always be carefully examined and cleared of all objects prior to each mowing. Use extreme care when approaching blind corners, doorways, shrubs, trees, or other objects that may obscure your vision of a child or bystander. Keep children, bystanders, helpers, and pets at least 100 feet from the mower while it is in operation.

That’s significantly faster than your other options. There are some trade-offs to consider compared to other options, but our overall impression of the Greenworks Pro 60V CrossoverZ Zero-Turn Lawn Mower is that it’s a success. The Greenworks Pro has a dual battery system, so I bought a second battery (about $150) so I can mow my entire lawn with having to stop for a recharge. First up, let me just say that this review of the Greenworks Pro 21 has nothing to do with Apple products or services — or any related third party products or services. However, with many folks working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic and with growing concern about protecting our environment, it seems timely. While it’s not the most budget-friendly pick, the Greenworks Pro is a quiet and convenient leaf blower.

Periodically inspect safety devices and cords for damage. If damaged do not operate the unit until it has been repaired by an authorized service professional. Keep cutting edges clean and sharp to ensure the best performance.
