Weber Q 1200 LP Gas Grill GRILLS

If you’re looking for the most portable grill and don’t need as much cooking space, the Q1200 can fit the bill. If you need more cooking space and are willing to deal with a bit more heft, the Q2200 provides nearly 100 more square inches of cooking space. But weighing grilling performance — the sum total of output power, control, cooking area, and wind resistance — against the minor setbacks related to portability, and this grill is well worth its price tag. Like all Weber products we’ve tested, the popularity of the brand is backed by quality service and sales, with replacement parts being widely available.

While it is incredibly easy to use, porcelain-enameled cast iron is meant to be treated with a level of respect commensurate with its cooking performance. Unlike a regular grill surface, you never want to use a wire brush, which will destroy the naturally non-stick coating. Instead, for heavy cleanings opt for a soft bristle or nylon brush. The grill surface itself also has a lot to do with the effectiveness of the Q 1200. Unlike so many other grills that are outfitted with a simple, stainless steel grate, the range of this barbecue is porcelain-enameled cast iron. While it is likely best known in its skillet form, this material is famous for heat retention and the resulting even distribution across the cook surface.

Even if you aren’t using a disposable bottle, you can really only hold the back third of the grip, resulting in a rather awkward carry until you remove the regulator for transport. Once an item is installed, we cannot accept a return or exchange. If the product becomes defective, product returns or exchanges must be handled directly with the manufacturer.

Even though these are smaller grills, Weber still made sure that there was some shelf space with two fold-out shelves on both grills. You can have a plate for burgers when they are done sitting on one shelf. You can have a stack of cheese slices on the other shelf too. Not changed is the 189 square inches of cooking space offered, push button ignition, infinite control burner value, cast aluminum lid and body and a glass-reinforced nylon body. The weber genesis 2 1200 is our favorite portable grill for efficient meals. An easy-to-read, integrated thermometer helps you accurately track temperature, and fold-out side tables offer plenty of space for your BBQ tools. While its weight and lack of latching lid make it less than ideal for carrying into remote picnic sites, the Weber Q 1200 is the ideal companion for road tripping and car-camping.

These two grills come with a stationary stand that the grill unit bolts onto. Size-wise and feature-wise, the 1400 is identical to the Weber Q1000, and the Q2400 is the same size as the Q2000. The major exceptions are that neither model has a button to light it since they do not use gas fuel. When you click on links to buy products we may earn money to support our work.

Throughout my testing, I was easily able to achieve temperatures of 450 to 500 degrees with this portable grill, which was enough for my needs. However, if you like to cook with really high temperatures—I’m talking over 500 degrees—you might have trouble getting there with only one burner. If you are still not sure if either grill is for you, there are other portable grills that might be worth taking a look at. They both operate a single gas burner running on a one-pound propane bottle, but they can be upgraded to run on a 20-pound tank with an adapter hose sold separately. If you’re looking for a new gas grill that can slide into your car for a weekend getaway or tailgate, you probably have looked at the Weber Q-series of grills.

They both accept both the 14.1oz and 16.4oz disposable propane bottles. This is far more cost-effective and won’t leave you running out of propane halfway through cooking a meal. Ideal for cooking hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken, steaks, and veggies.

Rather than do a review on a grill that isn’t portable, I’ll give a general run-down of the Weber Q3200 features here. Clearance and Outlet items are sold as is and cannot be returned at any time.
